About Dr. Daniel Rengstorff

Dr. Rengstorff was born and raised in the Bay Area. He attended medical school at Georgetown University School of Medicine and completed his residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He later returned to the Bay Area to complete his fellowship in Gastroenterology at California Pacific Medical Center.
During his fellowship Dr. Rengstorff was involved in studies evaluating the treatment of bleeding gastric varices and toxin induced hepatitis. Dr. Rengstorff is married and has one son. While not involved in patient care he enjoys golfing, skiing and wood working.

So rare to find a doctor who takes the time to explain things, and works with you to find the root cause of your health issues, not just prescribe to relieve symptoms. Dr. Rengstorff was right on time for my visit and addressed all my concerns.

Dr Rengstorf's office visit was a good experience. it was decorated with comical gastro related things like a poop emoji plushie in the waiting room and punny Christmas cards with all the doctors dressed up. you can tell they enjoy what they do. this was further backed up by my actual visit with Dr. R. he was very clear and concise and super friendly. was very happy to answer any questions I had. would recommend

Very patient and knowledgeable GI doctor who reviewed all my conditions in details before and I had an efficient video call that was started on time without any wait, and quickly allowed me to set up upper endoscopy in just a few days.

Dr. Regnstorff is a really good listener. This makes him stand out amongst other fellow medical professionals. He does a great job of treating each patient the way we should be treated, not just one of the products he has to follow a certain protocol to take off of the production line asap like some other doctors do.

Couple of things I am disappointed about. The office front desk isn’t helpful in terms of appointment scheduling and there is lots of confusion in terms of their message system appointment confirmation.
Secondly the nitroglycerin ointment prescribed even in very very small amounts causes severe headache something which I wish the doctor had highlighted. I mean the headache/ lightheadedness lasts all day even with a less then pea size application and the usefulness doesn’t outweigh the fact that the headache is just plain nasty.

Great doctor who was very thorough in explaining the options. I was genuinely curious to learn more about my condition and how I can do better in terms of preventive care. Dr. Rengstorff didn’t rush through and was detailed and caring in explaining everything. Besides, he is an easy guy to talk to and his bedside manner was very comforting. I’d highly recommend him to anyone.

Dr. Rengstorff is fantastic! He has great command of the subject matter and provides explanations that I can readily understand. He took time to understand my history and took extra time to address my many questions and concerns. I feel very comfortable that he's guiding my treatment.

Previous two doctors I saw could not figure out what was wrong with me. First doctor said I had chronic pancreatitis which is incurable and that I will always be in pain and need to watch what I eat. I had to cut 90% of food out of my diet. Pain continued. Went to second doctor, did blood tests and ultrasound again. Both came back normal. That doctor said there is nothing wrong with me. After 4 extra months of constant pain, I made an appointment with Dr. Rengstorff to see if I can get an MRI that I knew would cost me a fortune. After I described my pain, the doctor said that it sounds more like I have a peptic stomach, not pancreatitis. He prescribed a special antacid that cost pennies and literally 10 min after taking first pill all pain was gone! I could have continued to suffer for years have I not gone to this doctor. He is a genius.
