Getting to know Daniel Sly

I am a psychiatric nurse practitioner, and I have worked in Psychiatry since 2018 with adults, adolescents, children, and families. I have experience in both office and hospital settings, and offer a hybrid in-person and telehealth experience, based on client preference. I am bilingual english and Spanish and am adept at treating anxiety, depression, OCD, mood disorders, PTSD, ADHD, and autism.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I care about your mental health and well being, and I invest time and effort into meeting every patient's needs, whether it be the right medication, or combination of medications, the best therapist referral, or all of the above. I Place a high priority on accurate diagnosis, and when prescribing I adhere to the most evidence based practices. I have experience working with children and adolescents, adults, and families in a variety of settings, including offices, hospitals, and via telehealth. I believe in a holisitic approach to mental health care which includes, in addition to assessing a patient's current and past symptoms, an assessment of an individual's situation, relationships, past experiences, stressors, emotions, spiritual health/practices, and so on. Improvements in mental health often require a multi-faceted approach, and while I focus on appropriate pharmacotherapy, I aim to gather as much insight as I can in order to have a clear understanding of every patient's situation so I can know how to best assist them.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We will start with a 60 minute intake assessment where we gather information to establish a diagnosis and treatment plan. We will generally follow up every 30 days, or sooner if needed, to assess medication adjustments, until we reach the maintenance phase of treatment when no more immediate adjustments are necessary. At this phase, follow ups will be extended to every 3-6 months, depending on the client's situation and medication regimen.
