Getting to know Dr. Daniel Weiss

Thank you for choosing Talkiatry. Please be advised that a booked appointment on Zocdoc is not a confirmed appointment. After booking, a Talkiatry patient care coordinator will contact you to complete a preliminary screening. This screening must be completed within 24-48 hours of the appointment. Talkiatry and our providers reserve the right to cancel any appointment that has not completed the screening process. Dr. Weiss is a board-certified psychiatrist with expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of psychiatric conditions including depression and bipolar spectrum disorders; anxiety; stress and adjustment problems; ADD/ADHD; maternal mental health; OCD; and other disorders. He has extensive experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds, college and graduate students, creative professionals, and a wide range of working adults. Dr. Weiss earned his Doctor of Medicine from Temple University and completed his residency in psychiatry at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He previously served as an attending psychiatrist on the staff of Montefiore Medical Center and was formerly a faculty member at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. For the past decade, prior to joining Talkiatry, Dr. Weiss worked at The New School as the university's staff psychiatrist. Through a supportive psychopharmacologic approach, Dr. Weiss strives to provide a comfortable experience in which doctor and patient work together to understand presenting problems, reduce symptoms, and optimize functioning. He encourages concurrent therapy and will communicate with that provider in a collaborative care arrangement. Talkiatry takes medication management seriously. All state controlled substance databases are reviewed and taken into account during your initial visit.

Because we accept insurance, we can reduce out-of-pocket expenses and still offer high-quality care. You may not have any cost related to your visit with us, depending upon your insurance plan. Most patients pay a small copay per visit, subject to any deductible or coinsurance that your health plan has. The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services determines appropriate billing guidelines. These guidelines depend on the length of the visit and the complexity and severity of your diagnosis. For this reason, we need to wait until after the visit for the final determination. We then submit the claim to your insurance company. The charges are calculated based upon pre-negotiated prices with your insurance company. Your insurance company will then determine what amount, if any, is your responsibility per your insurance plan.

Very knowledgeable and provided different treatment options.

Dr. Weiss does not seem very empathetic. He seems to mostly care about switching meds experimentally, instead of getting to a root cause. He rejected doing bloodwork, even if covered by insurance. I did it privately, and found an issue that had nothing to do with meds. Fixed that, and improved my health substantially. So, not truly recommended.
