Getting to know Danielle Koreny

As a Doctor of Nursing Practice and board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I bring over 25 years of healthcare experience to my practice. My journey began as a registered nurse, where I spent decades providing bedside care and leading teams through complex medical challenges, including serving on the frontlines during COVID-19. I specialize in comprehensive mental health care, including assessment, diagnosis, and medication management for conditions such as ADHD, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, OCD, and psychosis. My experience spans diverse settings from crisis intervention and inpatient care to outpatient therapy groups and telemedicine services. What sets my practice apart is my integrative approach to mental health. I completed the Integrative Health and Lifestyle program at the University of Arizona, which allows me to explore complementary and alternative healing modalities alongside traditional psychiatric treatment. I believe in partnering with clients to develop personalized treatment plans that address their unique needs and help them reach their full potential. My extensive background includes expertise with treatment-resistant conditions and advanced therapies. Whether you're seeking support for ongoing mental health concerns or facing a crisis, I'm committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based care in a safe and supportive environment.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Please note that I do not accept EAP programs. I'm truly grateful you're here and taking this important step toward better mental health. As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner specializing in medication management, I combine clinical expertise with a compassionate, personalized approach for everyone I have the privilege of serving. My practice rests on a few core principles: everyone deserves attentive, individualized care; successful treatment depends on genuine collaboration; and when used thoughtfully, medication can be truly transformative. I see each person as unique, with their own story, strengths, and challenges, and I design care to honor that individuality. You can expect both thoroughness and accessibility throughout our partnership. I invest real time in understanding your full history, current symptoms, and treatment goals. I explain diagnoses and options in clear, straightforward language, welcome your questions, and make sure you feel informed and confident in every decision we make together. I believe in starting cautiously and adjusting treatment based on your individual response, so you remain an active partner in your care, never simply a passive recipient. I'm also realistic about the process of medication management. Finding the right medication or dose takes patience, and I'm committed to supporting you through every phase—monitoring your response carefully, addressing side effects promptly, and celebrating your progress along the way. My ultimate goal is to help you achieve emotional stability, improved daily functioning, and renewed hope for the future. I strive to create a warm, nonjudgmental environment where you can speak freely without fear of stigma or criticism. Whether you're managing depression, anxiety, ADHD, bipolar disorder, or another condition, I meet you with respect and genuine care exactly where you are in your journey. Together, we'll work toward meaningful healing and lasting wellness.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Please note that I do not accept EAP programs. Trust is the foundation of any therapeutic relationship, and I take that responsibility seriously. From our very first meeting, I offer a warm, welcoming space where you can tell your story at your own pace—free of pressure or judgment. While I'll ask focused questions to gather the clinical information a proper assessment requires, my deeper priority is understanding what holds the most meaning for you. Diagnosis starts with a thorough review of your symptoms—their nature, how they've unfolded over time, and their severity—along with how they're shaping your everyday life, your relationships, your work, and your general functioning. By pairing my clinical training with the insight only you can offer about your own experience, I develop a precise and well-rounded understanding of what you're going through. We then talk openly and honestly about the paths available to you and which are most likely to fit your particular circumstances. If medication is worth considering, I'll explain in everyday terms how each option works, what the research shows, and what benefits and side effects you can reasonably expect. Later visits focus on closely following your response and progress. We'll look at how your symptoms are changing, any side effects that have surfaced, and the way your quality of life and functioning develop over time. I tailor the plan to your response—moving quickly when the situation calls for it, or more gradually to protect stability and avoid needless disruption to your routine. Between appointments, I stay reachable for concerns that shouldn't wait for your next visit. Starting a new medication, managing tough side effects, or facing the unexpected can feel lonely and overwhelming. My intention is for you to have real guidance and support the moment you need it—not only during our scheduled time together. Above all, my goal is for you to feel like a true partner in your own care.

Daniel was so great! She took her time to get to know my son, asked him questions and really understand what he was feeling. She walked through every option for him, and we discussed each one in great detail. She was excellent and she really cared.
