What should a new client know about working with you?

When working with me, you can expect a warm, collaborative, and judgment-free approach to mental health care. I believe that you know yourself best, and my role is to listen, understand what you're experiencing, and work alongside you to develop a treatment plan that feels right for you. During our visits, I take the time to understand your symptoms, experiences, concerns, and treatment goals. I value open and honest communication, and I want you to feel comfortable asking questions and sharing your thoughts about your care. When discussing medications, I will explain your options, including potential benefits, risks, and alternatives, so that we can make treatment decisions together. My approach is compassionate, practical, and evidence-based. I understand that mental health treatment is not one-size-fits-all, and I tailor my recommendations to each person's individual needs and circumstances. My goal is for you to leave our visits feeling heard, respected, and confident about the next steps in your treatment.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

During our first visit, I’ll take time to get to know you and understand what brings you to care. We’ll discuss your current symptoms, psychiatric and medical history, previous treatments, medications, lifestyle, and personal goals. I’ll also ask questions to help clarify your diagnosis and identify any factors that may be contributing to how you’re feeling. From there, we’ll work together to develop an individualized treatment plan. This may include medication, lifestyle recommendations, laboratory testing when appropriate, or referrals for additional services. If medication is recommended, I’ll explain your options and answer your questions so you can feel informed and comfortable with the plan we choose together. Follow-up visits focus on how you’re doing, whether your symptoms are improving, how you’re responding to medication, and whether you're experiencing any side effects. We’ll make adjustments as needed and continue working toward your treatment goals. My practice primarily focuses on psychiatric evaluation and medication management. I may incorporate supportive therapeutic techniques into our visits, but I do not provide traditional ongoing talk therapy. When psychotherapy would be beneficial, I encourage patients to work with a therapist alongside their psychiatric care.
