About Dr. Darren Spearman
Dr. Darren Spearman looks after the community of Live Oak, TX. He is a trained gastroenterologist bringing extensive years of medical expertise to patients at Gastroenterology Consultants of San Antonio. Dr. Spearman is a medical graduate of the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. After completing his medical degree, he completed his internship and residency at Brooke Army Medical Center and a gastroenterology fellowship at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Bethesda, MD.
Dr. Spearman’s clinical interests include digestive health, colon cancer screening, and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). During his time at Brooke Army Medical Center, he served as primary investigator for several IBD medication trials. He is board certified in gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. From Dr. Spearman: “I’m passionate about making a difference in someone’s life, which has a different meaning for every patient I meet. One day may afford an opportunity to remove a pre-cancerous polyp in one patient, while a chance to simply listen and offer advice or reassurance may be therapeutic for another patient.”
Dr. Spearman's rapport with his patients, his medical knowledge and his dedication as a doctor contribute to his popularity with patients and members of his medical team. Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with his family, scuba diving, running, and cheering for his favorite college football team – the Clemson Tigers.

Darren Spearman has actually really listened to me and is working to help me figure out what is wrong. He is patient and takes the time to answer all my questions. He explains things thoroughly and tells me why he is doing a specific test or procedure. He does not dismiss my concerns and takes them seriously. Out of the many doctors and specialists I have seen, he is the best. I finally feel that I may find out the cause of my elevated levels, pain, fatigue, and ill feeling.

Great physician. The only complaint is when you call the office there could be 40 people ahead of you, as he is part of a group of physicians. Hopefully they can better manage this somehow in the near future.

I have and do have many Dr.s for many reasons, having been under Dr. Spearmans' care for many yrs can say, w possibly one exception working under quota time restraints, Dr. Spearman not only allows but encourages my total description of symptoms, providing his total attention and only then devises the most thorough,comprehensive course of tests, procedures ensuring nothing is missed or overlooked, followed by whatever treatment plan or any further procedures may be indicated, personally monitoring every detail himself and communicating clearly results. Does not enter exam rm already having decided how to proceed but taking patients concerns seriously, incredibly knowledgeable, patient and unfailingly treating patients with respect and concerns as individuals.
