About Dr. David Ackerman
PLEASE NOTE: Active Chiropractic Care is IN NETWORK with NYSHIP, Medicare, Northwell, Workers Compensation and No Fault, and OUT OF NETWORK with 1199, Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Emblem Health (GHI), Fidelis, Health First, Medicaid, United Health Care. HOWEVER, our office ACCEPTS ALL OUT OF NETWORK BENEFITS, and many times it is MORE cost effective to become a patient out of network for chiropractic care.
Our office prides itself on the “no surprises” insurance policy we have with our patients. We verify all patients' out-of-network benefits prior to their first visit and inform them of any out-of-pocket expenses in advance. We do not bill our patients; all payments are collected at the time of service.
Dr. Ackerman earned a Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science from the University at Buffalo (North Campus) in 2005, gaining hands-on experience through internships with various sports teams and athletes. He then graduated as Valedictorian from Palmer College of Chiropractic Florida Campus in March 2009, earning his Doctor of Chiropractic degree.
Dr. Ackerman also obtained licenses as a personal trainer and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist from the National Strength and Conditioning Association, enabling him to pursue his passion for group training with individuals and athletes.
Driven by his love for the human body, health, nutrition, and exercise, Dr. Ackerman remains dedicated to expanding his knowledge and skillset in chiropractic, exercise, and health techniques.
He developed the Active D.R.E.A.M. approach, utilizing his extensive knowledge in exercise, sports training, nutrition, muscle work, and chiropractic care to achieve remarkable outcomes for the patients at Active Chiropractic Care.

I've been a patient at Active Chiro since 2018 and I have had the pleasure of being treated by all three doctors. From reception to exit my appointments have always gone smoothly. Kind and friendly and knowledgeable staff all around. The care I recieve at Active Chiro is life-changing and I use every opportunity to let folks know. I’m a long time patient of Dr A, since he began practicing. I’ve literally seen the practice blossom to a fulcrum for better health, not only chiropractic. His team, Dr. P, and Dr. C, and all staff have always been top tier. Dr. A is a wonderful human being and II’ve learned so much from him. The quality of my life has improved from his care and guided ways to live. Worth every minute and every penny. Highly recommend. His social and seminars are also worth attending. All about clean healthy living at Active Chiropractic.

Dr. Ackerman is beyond the average chiropractor! He’s extremely knowledgeable and experienced, and really listens to what your concerns are. IT’s refreshing and rare to find a chiropractor who actually aims to provide long term results while educating his patients. I wish every chiropractic center modeled Dr. Ackermans methods and practice!!

There is no greater chiropractor than the Drs at Active Chiropractic. I have been seeing Dr. Ackerman for over 15 years. He’s always putting his patients care first. His office staff is too notch…attentive, respectful & caring. He has the cleanest and most organized office as well. I have never felt better since seeing Dr. A. He listens and really works with you to reach your goals. I highly recommend this office to anyone of any age!
