David has a calm disarming personality. He started the conversation asking me about myself and background and then provided his credentials. Which I appreciated. We then discussed the issues that brought me in, and he was attentive and interested in my idiosyncratic perspective. After a formal assessment, he discussed treatment options in detail with me and made me feel confident the decision was mine. When I deferred to him to make the call regarding treatment he still approached it as it was my choice and we can make adjustments as needed. He also goes above and beyond. I shamefully sent him an email on the weekend because I could not remember what we had discussed in-terms of taking my medication. He responded right away and told me not to feel bad for messaging on the weekend.
For my first psych visit ever, it was a great experience and I would recommend David to anyone who is mildly apprehensive.

David Avila is a very practical and very helpful doctor. He is also very responsive and very kind to his patients. He held me accountable for not following along with the treatment plan and has motivated me to take immediate actions to change my life around. His no-nonsense approach to mental health gives confidence that I will get better. He explains how medicines work in a very simple and concise way. A big pro about working with David is that he genuinely cares and isn't afraid to call you to follow up. He goes beyond compared to most mental health doctors. I highly recommend David to anyone who wants a doctor that will hold their patients accountable and motivate change while maintaining a friendly and relaxed demeanor. He is also LGBTQ+ friendly and very aware about social issues. Another big plus is that he is bilingual in Spanish and English. For me, I find that valuable because he isn't afraid to use Spanish in his practice when needed to communicate with non-english speakers.

David was great! I booked a same day appointment and I really appreciated him giving me a call a few hours before to confirm info like insurance, out of pocket costs, medical history, etc. It made the appointment much smoother.
He asked a lot of questions and seemed to really care to understand me which was comforting!

Dr Avila is a 10/10. He worked with me to make sure my med management was in order and is always on top of communication and making sure my mental health needs are met. I was responsible and respectful. I am super grateful to him for helping me. I would recommend him to anyone that is looking for a psychiatrist or help with mental health /med management.

El Dr. David me ha ayudado muchísimo con mi medicamento, con una mejoría enorme, en tan poco tiempo es muy atento y monitorea de cerca mi proceso, si tengo dudas por cualquier cosa casi al instante contesta mis preguntas, además muy accesible en sus costos para todas las persona es lo que más agradezco, sin dejar de lado que habla español es increíble encontrar un profesional que sea bilingüe me alegro mucho de a verlo encontrado y además me guía para saber dónde comprar el medicamento a precios más accesibles, lo recomiendo muchísimo su trabajo, ha mejorado demasiado mi salud!.

Dr. David is really amazing. He listens very attentively(even if u sometimes ramble like i do) to everything. He's very kind and compassionate. Completely understands if u aren't ready to be taken off mat meds, very good and understanding w/ addiction issues, trauma and loss. Highly recommend anyone that needs someone to talk to, please call him. You'll bevery grateful you did!

My husband received treatment by David Avila, and may I say, his work ethic and treatment was one of the best if not the best received.
He cares for his patients and his follow up calls to check on his patients was just so Incredibly kind.
