About Dr. David Biro

Dr. David Biro received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania, his Doctor of Medicine from Columbia University, and his PhD from the University of Oxford. He is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Dermatology at SUNY Health Science Center at Brooklyn, where he was awarded the Alpha Omega Alpha award for excellence in teaching. Dr. Biro was named one of New York's "Top Doctors" in New York Magazine in 2005, 2006, and 2007. In addition to practicing dermatology and training dermatology residents, Dr. Biro is actively involved in the medical humanities. He teaches a course in medicine and literature at SUNY Downstate and has published articles in numerous medical journals, the New York Times, and Slate magazine. Dr. Biro is the author of two non-fiction books: One Hundred Days: My Unexpected Journey from Doctor to Patient and The Language of Pain: Finding Words, Compassion, and Relief. His first novel, This Magnificent Dappled Sea, debuted in 2020, followed by his second, And the Bridge is Love, in 2021.
