About Dr. David Biro

David Biro earned his Doctor of Medicine from Columbia University and completed an internship in Internal Medicine at New York University Medical Center. He then pursued a residency in Dermatology at the State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center. Additionally, he holds a doctorate in English Literature from the University of Oxford. Dr. Biro is an Associate Professor of Dermatology at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, where he also teaches in the medical humanities division and directs a course on medicine and literature.
Dr. Biro's first book, One Hundred Days: My Unexpected Journey from Doctor to Patient (Pantheon, January 2000), chronicles his experience undergoing a bone marrow transplant. In January 2010, his second book, The Language of Pain: Finding Words, Compassion, and Relief (WW Norton), was released. His articles have appeared in various medical journals as well as The New York Times Magazine, Slate, and the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Dr Biro is an amazing dermatologist and has wonderful bedside manners . Wonderful staff. Dr Biro is extremely knowledgeable. He found a malignant melanoma in my arm and recommended me to a top notch oncological surgeon. He answered all my questions clearly and in a very calming manner . I have been going to this practice since i was a little girl ( treated by dr biro sr ) and would never look elsewhere . He treats me for my total body checks every 4 months . Highly Recommend **** 5 stars
