Professional statement

Dr. David J. Liss is a Board Certified Foot and Ankle specialist and surgeon. He completed four years at Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine in Miami, Florida, earning his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree. He finished among the top of his class and earned the annual Dean’s Scholarship Award Dr. Liss completed his three year foot and ankle surgical residency at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. He received extensive experience and learned the latest advances in both conservative and surgical management of a broad range of ailments of the foot, ankle and leg. Now practicing in Los Angeles, Dr. Liss specializes in treating everything from common foot ailments, such as toenail and skin disorders, warts, neuromas, bunions, hammertoes, flat feet, and heel pain, to more complex sports injuries, fractures and chronically painful conditions. In addition, he has expertise in management of difficult to heal diabetic and non-diabetic wounds. He has privileges at Marina Del Rey Hospital and Beach District Surgery Center. Dr. Liss has affiliations with multiple medical organizations. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Wound Management. He currently serves on the Executive Board of the Los Angeles County Podiatric Medical Association, and maintains active memberships of the American Podiatric Medical Association and California Podiatric Medical Association.

Doctor was good; office staff, to me, is less than to be desired. I was fortunate that I was able to get in the same day, but the front office staff seemed really put out, the assistant who was to takemy weight and blood pressure said, "Just tell me what you weigh" and since she didn't have a cuff that fit, they just bypassed the blood pressure bit. Fine...whatever. The assistant who did my x-rays was obviously turned off that I had to have x-rays done and was a poor communicator in regards to what she needed me to do ("move your foot" - "no, that way" - "move it over there some"...and comments like that). Just move my foot to get the view you need! Plus, when I was done, I know she wanted to get out the door but I had to remind her that I needed to pay my co-pay and then I had to deal with attitude "because (she) doesn't know how to work the (credit/debit card) machine" and "I have to turn my computer back on". Ultimately, it couldn't be that hard b/c she figured out how to do it. Dr. Liss seems very knowledgeable; he is gentle, and seems to believe in trying to really fix the issue vs. just throwing pills your way (thank goodness, b/c I am not a pill taker!). We will see how the follow-up is. Good Dr.; less than desirable office staff. Will be back only b/c I have a follow-up.

Dr Liss was great However... and it may be because it was only a minor complaint but being asked by the checking in MA? (not sure what level this person was) what my BP and weight was a little odd tome? If that information is needed then my BP should have been taken and I should have been weighed.

I did an online appt; they had most of the paperwork. I was in a lot of pain and all options were discussed, because I had already been to see my regular doctor. The office staff is not super friendly, butthey are efficient and I prefer that. X-ray was done right there and my toe/arthritis was diagnosed quickly. Because it is close to my home, and they could take me on the same day that I filled in the Zocdoc forms, this is one that worked very well!
