Dr. Mangiameli believes there is a spectrum of options between lumpectomy and mastectomy. Cancer removal is paramount; however, there are often more than two surgical options. Dr. Mangiameli is patient-centric and practices with a comprehensive team including medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, plastic surgeons, pathologists, and fellowship-trained women’s imagers. All cancer patients are discussed at conferences attended by these specialists. Multiple cancer experts are involved simultaneously from the start, highlighting the importance of cancer center accreditation. His program is the only accredited cancer center from Patchogue to Montauk and Orient, with offices in Patchogue, Southampton, and Riverhead. Every site visit of his team since 2014 by the American College of Surgeons has resulted in perfect full accreditation. He performs all forms of breast and chest wall surgery, including minimally invasive breast surgery, complex oncoplastic surgery, chest wall resections and reconstruction, nipple-sparing and traditional mastectomies, sentinel lymph node mapping and biopsy, and full lymph node dissections. He collaborates with plastic surgeons for immediate reconstruction using implants and all forms of autologous flap reconstruction..
