Getting to know Dr. David Woo

I have been in private practice since 2002, with my greatest interest being patients with depression, anxiety, and obsessive compulsive disorder. I am only accepting patients through Zocdoc for evaluation for medication management. After the initial visit, my physician associate, Maria Baig, will follow up. I earned my Doctor of Medicine from Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University and completed my psychiatry and geriatric psychiatry training at Beth Israel Medical Center. I transitioned to full private practice in 2010 after working at Beth Israel Medical Center. My undergraduate degree is from Cornell University.

At my first appointment, Dr. Woo was incredibly thorough -- listening to my litany of anxieties, asking about my previous experiences with treatment, discussing the merits and side effects of various potential medications, and bringing up additional strategies involving exercise, nutrition, sleep, and the like. By the end of the session, I felt very well informed, as well as listened to. I left feeling surprisingly optimistic, with less anxiety about my condition, and a good understanding of what we are planning to try and what its potential benefits and side effects might be. I should add that Dr. Woo is easy to interact with -- there was no wait time at his office, we emailed in advance of my intake so he could learn some basics about me, and we emailed again that night about the plan of treatment. Overall, so far, Dr. Woo's patience, knowledge, and attention are excellent.
I have seen Dr. Woo several times and always find him thoughtful, caring and helpful. He takes the time to talk about the issues and is a good listener. I also appreciate his thorough explanation of how different medications could work. I only wish he accepted my insurance.
