“I have been seeing Dean since 2018 and even when he changed his location, I followed. He's not just a care provider, he's my friend. Every 2 months that we talk, it's like catching up with an old buddy. If I could post a Fast and Furious "family" meme, I would. All jokes aside, when I was feeling down, instead of prescribing me random things, he just talked to me and thats all that I needed. He's not a therapist but that was enough and after talking for 7 years, I trust him 100%, so should you.”

Getting to know Dean Cochran
Hello, and welcome to my practice, Summit Ridge Psychiatry. I am Dean Cochran, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner dedicated to supporting individuals aged 13 to 70 through their mental health journey. I hold a Master's in Social Work from Our Lady of the Lake University, which enriches my holistic approach to care. At my practice, I offer comprehensive mental health evaluations and craft personalized treatment plans that may include medication management and therapeutic techniques with a foundation in cognitive behavioral therapy.
My professional approach is deeply rooted in empathy, respect, kindness, and understanding. I leverage my extensive clinical experiences and the latest evidence-based practices, always considering your unique needs and preferences to help you achieve optimal mental health and well-being. I am particularly passionate about assisting those who have been marginalized, disadvantaged, or disparaged, believing firmly that everyone deserves to feel valued and heard.
Outside of my practice, I reside in the Fairview/McKinney, Texas area, with my wife and our five children. We are foster parents, having welcomed four placements into our home, including newborn twins since May 2023. We were blessed to officially adopt them on November 23, 2024!
I look forward to the opportunity to work with you and support you in reaching your mental health goals. For out-of-pocket or cash-pay appointments, please read the bottom section regarding appointment costs. Thank you, and I hope to meet you soon!
What should a new client know about working with you?
Our first session will be focused on discussing your mental health, clarifying symptoms and goals for treatment. Medications will be discussed when appropriate. Follow-up sessions will be centered around medication management and identifying any newly occurring or previously undiscovered mental health issues that need to be addressed.
In-network insurances
More information on payments and coverage
Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

Great sessions. Offers good feedback and solutions. His demeanor is that of someone who wants to help. I referred my daughter to him. She’s now a patient.

I've already recommended Dean to multiple other people. He's very knowledgeable about the medication side of things, but he also cares about getting a holistic picture of what's going on and what solutions might work best. I also appreciate how he allows me to have input into the decisions we make about my healthcare together. It is empowering and confidence-building to feel like I am also in control of what I'm doing to find greater wellness.
