The bad: The only only suggestion I have is the amount of paperwork. It is redundant, and inflexible. i.e. can only have one emergency contact, have to write your name, dob, etc over and over and over. Perhaps these forms could be consolidated into one.”

About Dr. Dean Smith
Because minimally invasive surgery uses a very small incision (usually about 1/2 inch in diameter), it reduces damage to surrounding tissue and muscles compared to traditional surgical techniques. This approach also means that recovery times are greatly reduced and there is less pain after surgery. Minimally invasive surgery may be right for you if more conservative treatments have not helped to reduce your pain. I completed my Doctor of Medicine at Louisiana State University, Shreveport, followed by a residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the same institution. I further specialized with a fellowship in Spine Surgery at Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center.

I have to Dr Smith a few times before; he has always presented himself friendly and very professional. The office has a receptionist that is a chatter box, continuously talking and loud. Because of the long waiting times she should be a bit more reserved with respect to the patients. The laughter gets out of hand at times.

Our visits have always been good. Staff is friendly & professional and Dr. Smith is a wonderful doctor. He performed my emergency back surgery, and he did an excellent job. He kept my family informed, was very thorough in explaining the surgery, recovery & what to expect. He and his staff were there every step of the way. It is remarkable how far I have came since the surgery and at age 47. My family and I highly recommend Dr. Smith.

Dr. Smith did neck surgery 20 years ago that relieved severe pain, so I knew when I needed back surgery. He was the one to do it. After back surgery I am pain free again. It is a joy to wake up every morning and be able to get up and going without pain. God blessed me with a wonderful surgeon that fixed my spine pain twice.

I received great information to all my questions. The doctor described my x-ray results with me in detail. Both the ladies in the office and doctor accommodated me easily, as I missed my appointment time due to my fault. I have been totally pleased with my experience from the office staff and my treatment from Dr. Smith.

Dr. Smith is always friendly and listens to concerns. He always remembers me - and even if that only means he took 15 seconds to look at my chart I appreciate it. A lot of doctors are impersonal and old so his bedside manner is refreshing. I'm happy with the surgery - I feel like a new person.
