Getting to know Debora Monserrat

Debora Monserrat is a bilingual (Spanish) Certified Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, board certified by the ANCC (American Nurses Credentialing Center). She was born and raised in Argentina before becoming a citizen of the United States, where she raised her two children while pursuing a degree in nursing sciences. Finding tremendous satisfaction in her role as a registered nurse, she continued her studies in psychiatry, earning her Master's degree in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing from DeSales University in Pennsylvania. Throughout Debora's career in psychiatry, she has become increasingly well-rounded and experienced in treating patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings, case management, and working with a variety of psychiatric presentations among the adult population. With her experience, Debora takes a personal approach to treat each patient individually, utilizing the most current evidence-based practices. She also considers factors such as genetics, culture, comorbidities, and age. Her philosophy in treating psychiatric patients involves ruling out prevailing medical conditions, using medication only when warranted, and engaging in psychotherapy when necessary to identify stressors and develop healthy coping skills. Debora believes healthcare is dynamic and nuanced, so she seeks to continue learning not only through continuing education but also from her patients by deeply listening to their concerns and advocating for their mental health needs during initial and ongoing assessments. Her ultimate goal is for each patient to achieve mindfulness, insight, and a desire for personal growth to thrive in their lives. Debora's areas of specialization include treating symptoms related to anxiety disorder, depression, OCD, PTSD, bipolar disorder, insomnia, and schizoaffective disorder.

As a psychologist, I found her to be the most unprofessional person that I ever met that only she didn’t even take notes to remember how to follow up properly in the next session. She seems very unprepared for the second appointment. She was late. She doesn’t even seem to it seems more transactional. first she didn’t even listen to my actual problems and already wanted to prescribe me with medication not that I’m against that but I feel that you need to be able to cope then make a proper determination. I do not recommend anyone to go with her.

I’ve been in recovery for years, Im a trafficking survivor, I have CPTSD, panic disorder and crippling anxiety. My current psychiatrist was overbooked so I tried Deborah Monserrat via Zoom and I ended the appointment abruptly and left in tears being made to feel like a drug seeking addict for being on an anxiety PRN I take as needed during horrible panic attacks. I was told I don’t have panic attacks, they’re a “side effect” of another medication I’m on and when I asked her as to where she got that i information from she told me to “look it up” with this flippant attitude. I’ve only been on that medication for 3 years and I’ve been having panic attacks for 15 years- I know what panic attacks are. I would absolutely NOT recommend Deborah Monserrat for anyone in recovery, or that is suffering from panic attacks or anxiety. Regardless of your opinion of people in recovery, everyone should be treated with kindness and respect.
