Dr. Barbiere received her PsyD in Clinical Psychology from Pace University and a Master’s in Traditional Oriental Medicine from Pacific College of Health and Science - New York. She completed internships at NYU Lutheran Hospital and the Initiative for Women with Disabilities. She is a licensed Psychologist and Acupuncturist, and a Diplomate in Acupuncture, Oriental Medicine, Chinese Herbology, and Biomedicine. With over 30 years in private clinical practice, Dr. Barbiere has extensive experience in schools, hospitals, and outpatient facilities as both practitioner and supervisor. This includes past affiliation with NYU Lutheran, where she conducted research on Acupuncture in Post-Stroke Depression and Recovery. She served as a Board Member, Council Representative, and Past President of the New York State Psychological Association Independent Practice Division; has been an Adjunct Clinical Supervisor for Yeshiva University Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology; and is Founder and Director of Integrative Health NYC.
Dr. Barbiere recognizes the interdependence of mind and body in treating physical, psycho-emotional, and behavioral conditions. Her treatment modalities include Acupuncture, Herbal and Oriental Medicine (such as Cupping, Gua Sha, Asian Massage, Electro-acupuncture, and Eastern Nutrition), as well as Somatic, Mind-Body, and Eastern-influenced Psychotherapy, Biofeedback, EMDR, Life Coaching, and Emotional Freedom Technique. Whether using any of these techniques exclusively or in combination, Dr. Barbiere brings a broad range of skills and experience to the treatment room.

I've been seeing Dr. Barbiere for acupuncture for almost 2 years now and I consider her an indispensable part of my healthcare team. I am so grateful to have found her! Not only is she incredibly skilled, insightful, and intuitive - but she has tremendous compassion, and a very gentle bedside manner that is soothing and reassuring. She has helped with me all manner of circumstances (surgery preparation and recovery, anxiety, hormonal disruptions, muscular strains). There has never been a time when a treatment from her hasn't helped! I'm a huge fan and would wholeheartedly recommend her to absolutely everyone.

Dr. Barbiere was a patient and attentive listener. Her thorough intake form is just a jumping off point for her: She takes the time to really make sure she has as much information as possible to help determine the best course of action to help the patient feel better. Her acupuncture treatment was painless and relaxing, and she was more than happy to explain her initial diagnosis to me in terms of both eastern and western medical philosophies.

Top-notch from start to finish! Dr. Barbiere is incredibly easy to talk to, compassionate, intuitive, and highly skilled. I felt better after just one acupuncture treatment and the herbs she gave me are wonderful. My sleep is dramatically improved. She is also the most gentle acupuncturist I have ever seen. The technique she uses for inserting the needles really helped me not feel a thing. I told her I was a little squeamish about the needles and she took great care to make sure that I was comfortable. And I was! I highly recommend Dr. Barbiere.

I saw Dr. Barbiere twice a week for a while a few years ago. She was very helpful to me and was non-judgmental, a trait I greatly appreciated and need from a therapist. I also appreciated her knowledge of alternative medicine. Dr. Barbiere is a great doctor!

Deb is my third acupuncturist in the past years. I've been for back issues, right-side numbness, and sesamoiditis. On my very first treatment, Deb was able to eliminate most of the spasms affecting both my upper and lower back. We have since moved onto my feet where she's also had a significant impact.
She is a delight to work with and takes her time every time. I couldn't more highly recommend her.

I've been seeing Deborah for over 2 yrs. I first saw her for acupuncture and then therapy. I believe that the two are intertwined and naturally beneficial for my overall well being. Deborah immediately puts her patients at ease with her calm and friendly demeanor. With acupuncture, she's helped me treat hormonal imbalances, acne, stress & back problems.

My visits have been excellent. Dr. Barbiere is extremely kind and knowledgable, all of which have helped me to clarify and work toward my theraputic goals. Her office's atmosphere is very relaxing and I have never had to wait more than a few minutes in the waiting room. I would highly recommend and am so glad to have found her.
