What should a new client know about working with you?

When working with me it is essential for a new client to know that our collaboration is built on trust, confidentiality, and a shared commitment to their mental health. Understand that our relationship is a partnership, where communication is the key. I encourage you to ask questions, express any uncertainties, and actively participate in discussions about your care. Remember, your well-being is our priority, and together, we will work towards achieving and maintaining optimal mental health.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

A typical session with me would begin by conducting a thorough assessment to understand your medical history, psychosocial factors and current mental health status. After assessing your history, I will work collaboratively with you to establish realistic and personalized treatment goals. I will also develop an evidence-based treatment plan that may include talk therapy, medication, or a combination based on your needs. If medication is a part of the treatment plan, I will provide education about prescribed medications, potential side effects, and monitor your response closely. I will regularly monitor and evaluate your progress, collaborate with other providers as needed, provide ongoing patient education, develop a crisis plan if needed, and promote holistic well-being. In closing, I will be culturally sensitive and responsive to your unique needs, and advocate for you within the healthcare system and community to ensure you receive appropriate and accessible mental health care.
