About Dr. Denise Abselet

Denise Abselet, DO is a board-certified primary care physician with over 20 years of experience. She specializes in geriatric medicine and healthy living for adults over the age of 18. She received her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) from Des Moines University in Iowa and completed her residency in internal medicine at Winthrop University Hospital. Dr. Abselet is a preceptor for the students at Stony Brook School of Nursing and Medicine. Additionally, she serves as a member of Mather Hospital’s Pharmacy and Therapeutics and Steering Committee. Prior to joining NY Health, Dr. Abselet previously served as the Medical Director of Jefferson’s Ferry Retirement Community. Dr. Abselet enjoys traveling, gardening, and spending time with family.

I thought Dr. Absolet was terrific. I waited an hour and 20 minutes past my appointment time to see her, however, she is well worth the wait. She has a wonderful demeanor, is a great listener, and I have every confidence that she knows exactly what she’s doing and seems to have great medical judgment. The only suggestion I would make, is that I spent about 50 minutes filling out page after page of online information that was requested of me in advance. After waiting an hour and 20 minutes, I was finally taken into the exam room where the doctor’s medical assistant began asking me the same questions , all of which I had already filled out, & turned in days before. That was more than annoying. When the doctor tried to come in to begin our exam, the assistant said she wasn’t done asking my information and sent her on. That’s when I lost it. I’m sure the doctor does not know that this is occurring because she seems so organized and efficient. I would highly recommend Dr. Absolet.

i have been looking for an internal medical provider for quite a while. i have been to a few but did not like them for one reason or another. I liked Dr. Abselet the minute she walked into the room. She was warm and make me feel very comfortable. I am going back tomorrow morning for my bloodwork which is done in the office.
