About Dr. Diana Mahbod

Since a young age, I found it fascinating why people think, feel, and behave the way they do. As I learned more about psychology, I also developed a strong interest in the sciences, which led me to decide in junior high school that I would likely attend medical school someday. Although I explored other options along the way, it became clear that medicine was my true calling. I earned my Doctor of Medicine from the University of Iowa, completed my residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Illinois, Chicago, and pursued a fellowship in Nephrology at the University of California, San Francisco. The best part about practicing medicine in general, and specifically nephrology, is the opportunity to get to know patients and their families on a personal level and to help them feel their best in a way that aligns with their values. I strongly believe in patient-centered medicine. Each patient has unique needs, goals, and desires, and I strive to individualize every encounter to best serve the needs of that person and their loved ones.
