Getting to know Diana Thornburg

Hello, and thanks for considering me as a partner in your care. I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with more than 23 years of diversified nursing experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in both outpatient and inpatient settings. I earned my Master's in Nursing from Gonzaga University. I specialize in treating depression, anxiety, ADHD, and bipolar disorder. As a compassionate and empathetic caregiver, I utilize a holistic, client-centered approach-one that supports the individual's mental, physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I utilize a holistic client-centered approach, one that supports the individual's mental, physical, emotional, social and spiritual well-being. I believe in meeting my clients exactly where they are at and partnering with them on their journeys to wellness. It is my goal to make those I treat feel seen, heard and understood. I will work together with you to create an individualized care plan that fosters your unique strengths and resiliency.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

During our first visit, my goal is to get to know you. I will perform an in depth psychiatric evaluation, which includes asking about your history and current conditions. Working together, we will create a comprehensive plan of care for you. If medications are a part of your care plan, we will establish your regimen. At subsequent visits we check in on your progress and overall well-being. I am there to listen, offer guidance, supportive therapy and education as necessary. In addition to psychotropic medication management, I offer supportive counseling that include cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing. I also incorporate mindful practices into visits when appropriate.

Ms. Diana is super helpful, considerate, and great at her craft. I always leave our sessions with a greater awareness of the problems I am facing. I never feel rushed during our appointments, and feel that she has my best interest at heart. If I could give more than 5 stars for her, I would!
She has been instrumental in helping me understand and cope with my mood swings. I see her for both talk therapy and medication treatment. She has been so pleasant and understanding of my needs and circumstances. I recommend her to anyone needing professional help to manage their mood and irritable symptoms.
I am not new to mental health and so I do my due diligence to ensure the person I am working with is a good fit. Diana made me feel welcomed from the moment I first started to work with her. She was able to make adjustments to my antidepressant and ADHD treatments, and along with therapy from her, I feel like I am thriving. If you need someone to treat you like a partner instead of like a number, she is the person for you!!
Diana is very skilled at what she does. Came to see her during a really difficult time in my life, and she made me feel seen and heard. Never felt rushed during our sessions, and always left with a greater perspective regarding my issues. I would highly recommend her to anyone needing help and support in managing their mental health!
I suspected had ADHD for a long time, but always felt my symptoms were brushe off by professionals. I was referred to Diana by a friend, and this was the first time I felt actually listened to by a provider. She was very personable and professional. She listened to my concerns and validated my feelings. I am now being properly treated for my symptoms and feel so much better! I am immensely grateful for Diana's help!
