“I wish my appointments were a little bit more personal with my provider. I wish it wasn’t just about medication and we actually spoke about my mental health issues. Maybe that is not included and I need to go to counseling which is fine. I’ve been looking. Sometimes I do feel like she’s a little rough around the edges for practicing mental health, but being as sensitive as I am, it could just be me. What is your typical process for working with clients?
As a Psychiatric‑Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, my goal is to create a safe and supportive space where you can feel heard and understood. Every journey is unique, and I work with you to find the most effective way to help you feel balanced, focused, and well.
1. Getting to Know You
Our first visit is all about understanding you — not just your symptoms, but your story. We’ll talk about your medical and mental health history, daily life, and what you hope to achieve through care. This in‑depth conversation helps me get a full picture of what’s going on so we can plan the right next steps together.
2. Creating a Personalized Plan
After the evaluation, I’ll walk you through my recommendations and we’ll decide on a plan together. This may include medication, therapy, or lifestyle changes like improving sleep, nutrition, or stress management. You’ll always have the final say in your care.
3. Ongoing Support and Follow‑Ups
If we decide medication is helpful, I’ll check in often to make sure it’s working for you and address any side effects or concerns. Follow‑up visits are also a chance to talk about progress, challenges, and anything else that’s affecting your mental health.
4. Working as a Team
You’re never alone in this process. With your consent, I can collaborate with your therapist, primary care provider, or other specialists so everyone is on the same page about your wellbeing.
5. Growing Toward Stability and Confidence
As treatment continues, appointments may become less frequent, focusing on maintaining progress and preventing setbacks. My goal is to help you gain the tools, confidence, and consistency to thrive in your daily life.

She is incredible and made sure to take her time understanding how I felt and what caused the symptoms, unlike so many other doctors I've been to.
