What should a new client know about working with you?

I offer both therapy and medication management with a holistic, empathetic, and personalized approach. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe to be yourself—whether that means speaking candidly, using humor, or expressing yourself freely. No judgment, just support. As an LGBTQIA+ ally, I have extensive experience working with individuals facing serious mental illness, first responders, and healthcare professionals. My approach to medication management reflects my belief in "start low and go slow"—gradual medication adjustments to minimize side effects and ensure the best response. Think of it like testing the water before diving in. We’ll check in frequently at first to fine-tune your plan and ensure you feel supported. I do not routinely prescribe benzodiazepines, narcotics, or stimulants. In my therapuetic approach, I bring authenticity, warmth, and humor into sessions, fostering a comfortable, judgment-free environment. My approach is flexible and tailored—drawing from various therapeutic techniques to meet your unique needs. My goal is to empower you on your journey to healing, growth, and lasting well-being.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The initial session with a new patient is a crucial foundation for the work to come. During this first hour together, the focus will be on warm and welcoming introductions, allowing both of us to get to know one another. This is your opportunity to openly share the reasons you are interested in therapy; whether it be to address a specific issue, work through a difficult life transition, or simply to improve your overall mental health and wellbeing. I will provide a safe, judgment-free space for you to express yourself. I will actively listen and ask thoughtful, clarifying questions to better understand your unique circumstances and goals. Our first session together provides an opportunity for me to complete elements of your initial psychiatric evaluation. This first session lays the groundwork for a productive, rewarding partnership, setting the stage for meaningful progress and positive change.
