About Dr. Dimitar Ranev

Dr. Dimitar Ranev is a Board Certified General Surgeon. He earned his medical degree from the Medical University of Sofia Faculty of Medicine. He completed his General Surgery Residency at Staten Island University Hospital, part of Hofstra/Northwell. He further trained in Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital. Dr. Ranev specializes in Minimally Invasive Surgery—including Laparoscopic, Robotic, and Endoscopic techniques—to treat abdominal diseases such as hernias, stomach, intestine, gallbladder, and pancreas conditions. His primary focus is on Bariatric (weight loss) and Metabolic (to treat Type 2 Diabetes) procedures. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery and a Fellow of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. Dr. Ranev is also an active member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons and the European Association of Endoscopic Surgeons.
