About Dr. Dina Began
Dr. Dina Began, a board certified Dermatologist and Internist, provides her patients with a tailored comprehensive approach to skin care. Dr. Began currently serves as Clinical Assistant Professor of Dermatology at the NYU School of Medicine. Dr. Began has also served as Assistant Professor of Dermatology of the faculties of the Weill Medical College of Cornell University and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
She completed an accelerated B.S./M.D. program graduating cum laude with her bachelor’s degree in biology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and her medical degree from Albany Medical College. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency at Albany Medical College and Montefiore Medical Center and her advanced dermatology training at the Indiana University School of Medicine where she served as Chief Resident.
Dr. Began has served as a member of the Executive Board of the New York University Medical Center. She was the recipient of the Irwin Lubowe Fellowship for outstanding academic scholarship and the NYU Full Time Dermatology Faculty of the Year Award in 2001. In 2014, Dr. Began was awarded with the Special Recognition Award from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine Unified Division of Dermatology for outstanding mentorship of dermatology residents, medical students and colleagues.
Dr. Began has extensive experience in the academic, medical, surgical and cosmetic practice setting. She has a special interest in Acne, Acne injections, Anti-aging treatments, Cosmetic Dermatology and Cosmetic Procedures, Contact Dermatitis, Eczema, Hair Loss, Herpes, Psoriasis, Rashes, Rosacea, Scars, Skin Cancer Screenings, Prevention, Treatments and Warts.

I’ve never literally loved going to a doctor before, and after many years I finally scheduled a visit. This woman is excellent. Total pro. She answers my many questions, handles every item and concern so that I feel listened to, cared for, and she does it with a “let’s do this and get you better fast” attitude I wish every doctor had. Just had my second visit this year and am not dreading my next follow up. Miracle!
My only disappointment has been a lengthy process for a prior authorization for a prescription, but that might just be my insurance. The doctor’s office called to tell me the PA was taken care of but when I went to pick it up it was on hold and after lots of back and forth, two weeks ago I finally got what was prescribed to me in August. And I have called with other questions (such as I ran out of a sample for a blemish that’s never went away and I called about next steps) that we’re just never returned. I finally had to physically go to another appointment. But I will probably endure whatever I have to to remain in Dr. Began’s care. She’s that good.
