“I felt like Dina understood my food problems better than I did myself. She helped me achieve things I didn't think were possible. Before we worked together I was a huge emotional eater, felt very out of touch with my body and treated exercise like a chore. It was so hard for me to stay consistent with my food or exercise. Now, I no longer have obsessive thoughts about food, I can regulate my food intake based on my body's own signs of hunger and fullness, and I move my body just to feel good. I'm not eating perfectly but I feel that I can be consistent with feeding my body well and I don't feel guilty when I give into a craving, nor do I lose control like I used to. I'm forever grateful for my time with Dina. She is an excellent choice for a nutritionist and will really take the time to listen to your needs and help you shift to do-able habits. ”

About Dina Garcia

After overcoming my struggles with binge eating, prediabetes and ADHD I have developed a unique set of strategies and skills that will help you develop the mindset and habits needed to create lasting change to your relationship with food. Diets make us focus on restriction and fear around eating. I help you to turn your focus towards self-love and self-care. I have been a Registered Dietitian since 2005. I believe in a holistic, client-centered approach to nutrition which has allowed me to help countless clients live happier healthier lives without feeling like they are on a diet. I understand that every individual has different needs and I really take the time to listen to you so I can help you achieve YOUR goals. I have extensive experience with wellness, pre-diabetes, diabetes, eating disorders/disordered eating, cardio-metabolic conditions, hypertension, high cholesterol, renal (kidney) disease, pregnancy, lactation and more. I completed an undergraduate B.S. in Dietetics from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana and then went on to complete my supervised practice at California State University, Fresno in Fresno, California. I take a weight neutral and inclusive approach to helping clients nourish their overall well-being. My personal challenges with disordered eating, prediabetes and ADHD help me to provide unique approaches to better health. I will guide you towards a healthy relationship with food using intuitive eating, mindful eating, motivational interviewing, cognitive behavior approaches and simply listening to and caring about your goals and needs. During your first session I will conduct an extensive intake to best understand your past lived experience with food, your current challenges and your future goals. Together the two of us will create a roadmap that outlines all the critical pieces of what we need to work on together. Each session I will break that roadmap into small actionable steps that will progress you towards your goals.

I had been trying to change my eating habits for years but was never successful. After my doctor told me I was pre-diabetic and would eventually need medication I knew I needed professional support. Dina really took the time to understand my life, routine, food preferences and needs in order to design a plan that would be easy for me to follow. She is really big on consistency over perfection and I think that was the missing piece for me. My blood sugar returned to a normal range and I never felt like I was sacrificing or on a diet. Once I set some habits in place, learned how to balance my meals and consistently upped my activity level everything easily fell into place. Not only did my blood sugars return to normal but my energy significantly improved. I love her PF3 approach, it's catchy and makes it easy to remember how to balance my meals. You won't regret choosing Dina as your nutritionist if you are prediabetic or just struggle with changing your habits like me.
I came to Dina for advice with my 11 year old daughter. She was friendly and and receptive and personable :) when assessing my concerns and providing advice and feedback. She has a strong understanding of food behaviors and how to help my daughter make better choices without body shaming her or making her feel that she needs to hide her eating from anyone. She gave us some practical strategies that we could implement as a family. No doubt I highly recommend Dina if you want strategies to best support your kids in developing a healthy relationship with food.
