Getting to know Domikah Olateru Olagbegi
Domikah is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC). She combines an evidence-based approach alongside a holistic perspective to adult psychiatry and uses her experience to better understand each patient's unique dynamic. She earned her Bachelor's degree and Master's in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington, where she received training in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
With 10 years of nursing experience and 6 years of mental health experience, Domikah currently works with adult patients of all ages and treats a variety of psychiatric disorders including anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, OCD, PTSD, insomnia, and provides psychotherapy. Her beliefs and practices emphasize a whole-body, patient-centered, nutrition-focused, and science-backed approach to treatment.
She is a member of the American Nurses Association, Psychiatry Redefined Integrative/Functional Medicine Fellowship, and the American Psychiatric Nurses Association. Domikah enjoys traveling, exercising, and spending time outdoors with her family and friends.
What should a new client know about working with you?
My approach involves transparency, compassion, listening, goal-setting, healthy processing, and coping mechanisms. I set medication and therapy goals with the client and provide motivation, support, medication, and feedback when necessary. I believe in total medical freedom and diversity.
Outside referral for ADHD testing may be recommended on a case by case basis.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
Once an appointment is booked, please expect a call from the office to schedule a New Patient Evaluation to determine diagnoses (if any).. After that determination, I will get a history, assess your symptoms, and then we would discuss a treatment plan that may or may not include medication, supplements, nutrition, psychotherapy, environmental changes, and/or lab work. Depending on the diagnosis and treatment, a 20-30 minute follow up appointment is usually within 2-4 weeks after the initial appointment.
