Scarpinato, M.D., is a board-certified, fellowship-trained sports medicine specialist who has taught and published on a number of sports medicine-related topics, including arthroscopic shoulder management in athletes, ACL injury diagnosis and treatment, and throwing shoulder injury prevention. She earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from the State University of New York, Upstate Medical University. Dr. Scarpinato completed her internship in General Surgery and her residency in Orthopedic Surgery at Long Island Jewish Medical Center. Everyone in the office was friendly. I was seen on time. I had my knee x-rayed and then was seen by Dr. Scarpinato. She viewed the x-rays and explained the results. She listened intently to my problem and advised me of solutions. She put me at ease. I left the office feeling better than when I went in. It was a positive experience being seen by

The office staff upon my arrival was rude and unpleasant. The medical assistant who brought me to the room and completed the intake forms was rude as well and got nasty when she looked me up and down and asked me if brought shorts bc the doctor needs to examine me. Nothing I received told me to bring or wear a pair of shorts and this woman was very mean and abrupt to me. I was so upset because I was in so much pain and there was zero kindness from the first people you meet upon arrival. Once the doctor came in she was a nice woman and never even looked at or touched my legs so I believe I could have and would have been okay on the pants I was wearing.

Dr Scarpinato had a really distasteful disposition. It felt like she had somewhere else to be. Asked me why would I think my shoulder pain is something for and Orthopedic.. Hm, that’s why I’m here? Aggressively tapping her leg and picking up and throwing down her glove because the computer was slow all while slouched over holding her forehead. It’s 2pm.. get a grip. Awful. Then she ordered and mri and told me my insurance might not cover it because it might not be necessary. What a miserable woman.

This doctor is a smart, no nonsense lady. She very clearly knows her stuff and I am very very confident in her ability. If you want a good, smart, trustworthy doctor there is no reason to go to anybody else.
Plus all of the staff has been super helpful and has gone out of their way to work with my insurance to make sure I got what I needed. You don't find too many offices like this anymore and I am thankful I found this one.
