About Dr. Douglas Sims
“I consider myself an excellent listener and hope I get the opportunity to meet you in person and discuss your specific health challenge.”
In Dr. Sims’ teenage years, he struggled with uncontrollable high blood pressure that had no known origin. A walking time bomb for a stroke, he had no idea until his medical doctor informed him at an annual physical exam. The doctor’s answer was to place Dr. Sims on medication. Shortly after, an automobile accident caused Dr. Sims to see a chiropractor.
Chiropractic improved his neck and backaches. Amazingly, his blood pressure readings lowered, too! It took 17 adjustments before Dr. Sims’ blood pressure was the lowest it had been in years. He weaned himself off the medication and decided to join the natural healing profession.
Dr. Sims attended Hampton University to achieve a Bachelor of Science degree. Then, it was onto Life University in Marietta, Georgia, to earn a Doctor of Chiropractic.
Today, he continues to take regular continuing education courses. He’s involved in our community through educational sessions and various health screenings. The memberships Dr. Sims holds include the following:

Dr. Sims resides in Calvert County with his wife, two daughters and son. When he isn’t with his patients or family, he enjoys reading and traveling. A black belt in Taekwondo, he is often exercising through martial arts, jumping rope or running. He is a lover of music who recently inherited his father’s guitar and plans on learning to play.

Did not actually treat me. Just made me schedule another appointment for an adjustment that he could have easily done immediately. Completely pointless trick to bill me for another appointment. Dont go here.

I saw Dr. Sims once before he decided I should start to see a different doctor in the same office. This was not clearly communicated to me when I attended the next appointment, but once I realized what had happened, I still continued to go to receive the care I needed until they revealed they had misquoted my copay and my share was more than I was aware. I settled the bill and immediately stopped going to this office. I am unlikely to return.

The office staff was very professional and accommodating.
Two of my coworkers suggested chiropractors that were able to fit them in within 24 hours of the initial phone call, and they were treated for their pain on the first visit. I did not take their recommendations as I go out of my way to choose African American doctors to keep the dollars in the black community. This does not mean however, that I will accept anything less than excellence.
Dr. Sims does not offer the level of care I expect. Even after explaining the pain I was experiencing, he spent less than ten minutes with me, which included x-rays and a quick exam. He dismissed me and told me that I could buy one of his products at the desk for the pain. I would have to make another appointment. When asked if that was it, he said that he had patients waiting for him so he could not treat me. He went on to say that the first visit is just a consultation.

Dr. Sims is very responsive and a great listener. He also works on TMJ! Very rare to have a chiropractor do that work. The office was short staffed the day I went in so I waited about an hour before being seen which was VERY irritating. I almost missed an important work meeting because I didn't expect to be there for more than 1 hour. Our actual visit lasted 15-20 minutes. Hope this won't happen again, if so, I may have to consider other practices. I can't wait for an hour to be seen for every appointment.

Upon my initial visit I was greeted by the office staff to a welcoming environment. All processes from check-in, billing/ copay/
coinsurance to meeting with Dr. Sims was exceptional. Dr. Sims explained entire treatment regimen to indept of how chiropractic care works to correct the body. I was extremely naive to chiropractic care until I met with Dr. Sims. His treatment has been able to lower my blood pressure and control pain I was experiencing in neck/ back.

I was seeking help with severe pain in my hip/ perk arcs and the adjustments made by Dr. Sims were very helpful in alleviatting the pain, also recommendations for exercise will extend the treatment.
