“He actually listens and doesn’t rush the appointment. I felt like he took the time to understand what was really going on instead of just focusing on one symptom. He explained my diagnosis and treatment options in a way that made sense, and we made decisions together. I’ve already noticed improvement and feel more hopeful about my progress. I’d definitely recommend him to anyone looking for thoughtful, thorough mental health care.”

Getting to know Dylan Carey

I’m a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). I provide comprehensive diagnostic evaluations and personalized treatment for depression, anxiety, panic disorder, PTSD, eating disorders, bipolar disorder, insomnia, ADHD, and substance use conditions — including alcohol use, opioid use disorder with Suboxone treatment, and cocaine or methamphetamine use. I also offer genetic testing to help guide and match medications for the most effective, individualized treatment. Objective computer based ADHD testing is also offered.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Reaching out for help takes courage, and you don’t have to face this alone. I provide a calm, supportive space where you can be heard and understood. Together, we’ll work toward healing, balance, and lasting change at your own pace. When you’re ready, I’m here to help you take that next step.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My typical process begins with a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation to clarify diagnoses, rule out medical or substance-related contributors, and understand each client’s unique biological, psychological, and environmental factors. From there, I collaborate with clients to develop a clear, goal-oriented treatment plan that may include evidence-based medication management, psychotherapy integration, lifestyle interventions, and coordination with primary care or other providers as needed. I prioritize education, shared decision-making, and measurable outcomes, with regular follow-ups to assess response, monitor safety, review labs when appropriate, and adjust the plan based on progress. My approach is structured yet flexible, focused on practical strategies that improve daily functioning, long-term stability, and overall quality of life.

I was honestly nervous going into my first appointment, but that went away pretty quickly. I felt listened to and not rushed, which hasn’t always been my experience with mental health care. Everything was explained clearly, and I never felt pressured to take anything I wasn’t comfortable with. Telehealth was easy to use, and I left feeling like I finally had a plan that made sense.
