Getting to know Edena Walden

Hello, my name is Edena and I'm a psychiatric nurse practitioner. I have degrees in biology, public health and nursing. I obtained my MSN from Vanderbilt University after years of working with incarcerated people and in substance abuse facilities. My most common diagnoses are ADHD, depression, anxiety, and mood disorders. I typically use a combination of medication along with cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectic behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing and solution focused approaches to provide brief therapeutic interventions in a culturally sensitive way. If you’ve struggled in the past or recently began having difficulty, I’d be happy to meet with you to discuss your concerns and goals.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

During your first visit I'll ask a lot of questions so I can get to know you and help identify possible areas of improvement. Together we'll come up with a treatment plan which can include medication, therapy, and/or a referral. My goal is to make you feel heard and comfortable. We work together to come up with a plan that you're comfortable with that is evidenced based and measurable. Follow up visits are typically 30-45 minutes. We will discuss progress, medication concerns, and any other concerns you may have.
