What should a new client know about working with you?

Patients working with Eileen can expect a thoughtful, approachable, and respectful experience. She understands that discussing mental health can sometimes feel difficult, particularly when meeting a new provider. For this reason, she works to establish an environment where patients can speak openly about their symptoms, concerns, experiences, and treatment expectations without fear of judgment. Eileen believes patients should have an active voice in decisions affecting their care. She takes time to listen, answer questions, explain treatment recommendations, and discuss the potential benefits and considerations of available options. Rather than applying the same approach to everyone, she considers each patient's circumstances, preferences, strengths, and personal goals when developing a plan of care. Her goal is to establish a therapeutic partnership in which patients feel heard, informed, and supported as they work toward improved functioning, emotional stability, and overall quality of life.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Eileen begins with a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation to develop a clear understanding of the patient's current concerns and overall mental health needs. The initial assessment may explore symptoms, psychiatric and medical history, previous treatments, medications, family history, daily functioning, lifestyle, relationships, stressors, and the patient's priorities for treatment. Following the assessment, Eileen works collaboratively with the patient to establish realistic treatment goals and develop an individualized plan. Depending on the patient's needs, recommendations may include medication management, psychoeducation, supportive therapeutic interventions, behavioral or lifestyle strategies, and coordination with therapists, primary care providers, specialists, or other members of the healthcare team. Follow-up visits focus on evaluating progress, monitoring medication effectiveness and tolerability when medications are prescribed, discussing new or ongoing concerns, and determining whether changes to the treatment plan are appropriate. Eileen views treatment as an evolving partnership and encourages ongoing communication so that care can continue to reflect the patient's needs and goals throughout their mental health journey.
