Dr. Elaine Kwok is a board-certified Adult Psychiatrist who has been practicing for 9 years.
She specializes in depression and anxiety and believes in a holistic approach for wellness of both the mind and body. Dr. Kwok conducts a comprehensive and individualized assessment for each patient utilizing a combination of medication management, lifestyle changes and coping skills, creating a safe and therapeutic environment to facilitate healing and growth.
Dr. Kwok received her undergraduate degree from New York University and her medical degree from St. George’s University. She then completed her residency training at Seton Hall University. After training, she worked in the inpatient and outpatient units at Capital Health Medical Center in Trenton, New Jersey. She was a voluntary faculty member and trained residents and medical students from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. She has training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. She actively participates in her local community to provide education and trainings for mental health providers.
Dr. Kwok strives to collaborate and address hindrances that may interfere with an individual’s best self. She focuses on creating a strong therapeutic relationship to support and facilitate balance, life style enhancement and emotional well-being. Because we accept insurance, we can reduce out-of-pocket expenses and still offer high-quality care. You may not have any cost related to your visit with us, depending upon your insurance plan. Most patients pay a small copay per visit, subject to any deductible or coinsurance that your health plan has. The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services determines appropriate billing guidelines. These guidelines depend on the length of the visit and the complexity and severity of your diagnosis. For this reason, we need to wait until after the visit for the final determination. We then submit the claim to your insurance company. The charges are calculated based upon pre-negotiated prices with your insurance company. Your insurance company will then determine what amount, if any, is your responsibility per your insurance plan.

It was the worst experience ever! I found a doctor I wanted to be seen by, but after filling out numerous forms, I was told I couldn't see this doctor, and they scheduled me with someone else. Then I got several emails congratulating me on the fact they accept my insurance. Then less than 24 hrs before the appointment, they emailed me saying that once my deductible is met, I will only pay 20%, but my first appointment will be several hundred dollars. I requested to cancel the appointment and got a bill because I cancelled less than 24 hours before the appointment.

I've never had a psychiatrist spend over an hour with me. She is empathetic and caring and took the time to dive into my past experiences to figure out a proper diagnosis for me. I've been to many prescribers before, she is the absolute best.

Due to my disabilities, I requested if a representative could be there with me during my appointment; I could not articulate some of my words properly, however Dr. Kwok was not receptive to my concerns. I did not feel as though I was truly being listened to; it felt one-sided. Spent the hour answering a multitude of questions just for the doctor to alert me that I must be referred to another doctor bc in-person visits would be better. I explained that going in-person is not conducive for my schedule, however it was not acknowledged. She also informed me that in-person could check my vitals and various symptoms but I also enunciated that my current Pulmonologist already does that. I have not received the list of reputable psychiatrists that she informed me would be sent over. Overall, not a great experience and I was not being actively listened to.
