Dr. Elana Putterman is a board-certified dermatologist and a Southern California native. She grew up in Palos Verdes and completed her undergraduate degree at Tufts University, where she graduated with a degree in Psychology and a minor in Spanish. She then attended medical school at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, where she also completed a Pediatric Dermatology research fellowship at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), one of the country’s leading pediatric hospitals. She completed her medical internship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and her dermatology residency training at the University of Massachusetts outside of Boston. Here, she served as Chief Resident, designed the dermatology program’s academic curriculum, and spent a year conducting clinical trials for new drugs used in the treatment of vitiligo. In her final year of residency, she completed additional specialized training in laser and injectable cosmetic procedures and served as the resident liaison for the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery. She has published numerous articles in the most prestigious peer-reviewed scientific journals, including the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, JAMA Dermatology, and JAMA Pediatrics; presented original research findings at multiple conferences around the country; and earned multiple awards and grants for her work. Dr. Putterman enjoys treating patients of all ages and practices medical, cosmetic, pediatric and surgical dermatology. She uses an individualized approach to her patients and their families and is committed to making patients feel comfortable and confident. Procedurally, she practices with meticulous attention to detail and cares deeply about her patients’ results. Dr. Putterman is also proficient in Spanish. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, and the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery.
