About Dr. Elen Blochin
I see patients with all dermatologic conditions and have a special interest in inflammatory skin diseases such as psoriasis, hair loss, eczema, rashes, patch testing, lichen sclerosus/morphea, hidradenitis suppurativa, acne, skin cancer checks, removal of benign growths, removal of skin cancer, treatment of warts, treatment of scars, and laser treatment of brown and red spots. I am fluent in Russian. I earned my medical degree from the Russian National Research Medical University named after N. I. Pirogov and completed residencies at Eastern Virginia Medical School and New York University. Additionally, I completed a fellowship at the Bernard Ackerman Academy of Dermatopathology.

My visit felt rushed, and I didn’t feel that my concerns were taken seriously. When I pointed out various issues I was experiencing, I didn’t receive clear or detailed explanations. In some cases, I was told that “it sometimes happens” and that “everything looks good,” which isn’t the thorough medical explanation I was hoping for. I left the appointment feeling unsure.

I went in for a visit and was diagnosed with hand foot and mouth disease. The doctor did a terrible job of explaining the disease to me and was super quick to end the convo. She basically just handed me a sheet with information about the disease and left. I also needed a doctors note for work since I won’t be allowed to work for 7-10days. The secretary was out for lunch and someone else at the front desk said the secretary would send it once she gets back. I still have not received the doctors note and on my patient notes from the end of the visit there is no mention of my diagnosis of hand foot and mouth disease. They should really be on top of it and not have me reach back out to me to get this information.
Overall this was one of the worst experiences I’ve had in a doctors office and I will be switching dermatologist. Respectfully

The extra tablet survey during check in felt like a lot. Wish I could have done that beforehand. They were also unable to give me a documented receipt right away that has my name, the date and the practice name to submit to my HSA. Instead I have to call in a week to see if they can email it to me. Also, the nurse insisted I was late and the doctor might not have enough time with me to go over my issues. I had to explain to her that I was actually quite early and I had been waiting to finish check in; she was surprised, so that was weird. But the doctor was great and really nice. I felt like I could trust her. Staff was nice, too.

Dr. Blochin probably had the best bedside manner of any doctor I've seen recently – she patiently listened to everything I had to say, was kind and empathetic when explaining the path to recovery, and overall was a very warm presence. I left with actionable items and more confidence about what next steps would be.

Incredibly disappointed and beware of incorrect billing issues. This was my first visit as a new patient . I waited nearly 30mins for my appointment and with doctor less than 15mins .
Incorrectly charged a co-pay when leaving that should not have been billed and now I am having back and forth over billing from the visit as instead of the annual skin screening that I booked it has been shown as a regular office visit vs a preventative annual screening which I am now liable a couple hundred for . The team there acknowledged there should have been no copay but it is now going to my bill which a) I did not give permission for and b) it shouldn’t be a bill as preventative care including this type of dermatology visit is actually covered by my insurance 100% . Beware as they say for new patients it’s standard to code like this for new patients and annual skin screenings are not coded differently to an actual visit
