Getting to know Dr. Eli Kraiem

Dr. Eli Kraiem is a widely recognized couples and relationship expert. He lectures nationally on these topics and has developed a distinctive approach to helping couples navigate relational crises and rebuild stronger, more intentional partnerships. Dr. Kraiem also serves as an adjunct professor at the Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology, where he teaches and lectures on couples therapy and relationship dynamics. Dr. Kraiem is trained in multiple evidence-based couples therapy modalities, including Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), the Gottman Method, the Imago Method, and Psychodynamic Couples Therapy. He utilizes an integrative approach, drawing from these models to tailor treatment to the unique needs, personalities, and dynamics of each couple. His work focuses on helping partners better understand one another, improve communication, and move out of the repetitive conflict cycles that often keep relationships feeling stuck. Dr. Kraiem received specialized training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) under Dr. Camilo Ortiz, an internationally recognized expert in treating anxiety disorders, advanced training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) under Dr. Jill Rathus, a leading authority and pioneer in DBT, and further training in psychoanalytic therapy from Dr. Danielle Knafo, a highly regarded psychoanalyst, author, and educator in the field. Integrating these approaches, Dr. Kraiem combines practical, evidence-based strategies with deeper insight-oriented work to help individuals better understand their thoughts, emotions, and relational patterns. His approach is particularly effective for individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, and relationship difficulties, addressing both immediate concerns and the underlying dynamics that shape emotional well-being.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach to therapy is active, thoughtful, and collaborative. I work closely with clients to understand the patterns that may be keeping them stuck and help them develop practical tools for creating meaningful change. I aim to create a space where people feel both supported and challenged. In our work together, we explore underlying emotions and relationship dynamics while also focusing on concrete strategies that improve communication, emotional regulation, and overall well-being. Whether working with individuals or couples, my goal is to help clients gain clarity, strengthen resilience, and move forward with greater confidence and intention. Many people come to therapy feeling overwhelmed or disconnected, and I work to help them better understand themselves, their relationships, and the choices available to them.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My approach to therapy is collaborative, practical, and tailored to each individual or couple. In our first session, we focus on understanding what brings you in, your goals for therapy, and the patterns in your life or relationships that may be contributing to current challenges. Sessions are conversational but focused. Together we explore thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, while also developing practical strategies to help you move forward. I integrate evidence-based approaches such as CBT, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), the Gottman Method, and psychodynamic therapy depending on your needs. My goal is to provide a supportive space where you feel understood while also gaining the insight and tools needed to create meaningful, lasting change.
