Elia Tessera is a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She received her graduate degree from The George Washington University School of Nursing in 2021 and is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.
Elia entered the health care field in 2004 and has served the mental health community as a psychiatric mental health nurse since 2017. Elia has been able to advocate for the mental health population in various ways in addition to bedside nursing, such as volunteering for underserved mental health community education and outreach.
Elia received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from George Mason University in 2015. During her junior year, Elia was one of the three nursing students selected in an honors program from the Washington metropolitan area as a VALOR (Veterans Affairs Learning Opportunities Residency) recipient during the summer with a structured clinical experience with a preceptor and educational coursework in a clinical setting.
Elia worked as a psychiatric Mental health nurse in an inpatient setting for adults aged group (18-65) prior to coming to Colombia Associate in Psychiatry. Her patient care philosophy is to follow evidence-based practice and the shared decision-making model.
Elia will be starting in the outpatient setting at the Adie location to treat mental health patients across the lifespan. She is committed to continuous learning to provide evidence-based treatment modalities. She believes in a holistic approach to health and recognizes the importance of mental health in achieving optimal health and well-being of an individual.
Outside of work, Elia enjoys spending time with her family, swimming, and riding a bike.
