“I have been seeing Dr. Ganz for over 3 years. When I first showed up to her office, I was broken, deeply depressed and engaging in harmful behaviors due to CPTSD that I didn't know I was dealing with. I had no control over my life and I needed help. Dr. Ganz was exactly what I needed so much more. She created a safe space for me where i can feel all my emotions and talk about anything. I used to be shameful of my emotions and would avoid the, Dr. Ganz has taught me to celebrate my emotions and that they are valid. This has been an extremely freeing sentiment. She cultivates a deeper understanding within myself that allows me to recognize my triggers and has taught me self soothing methods that have significantly minimized them over time. “I’ve been working with Dr. Ganz for over a decade now, and, like all our sessions, the latest one was enlightening and empowering—a highlight of my week. Several of the best decisions I’ve ever made—about relationships, work, and self-care—have benefited greatly from her guidance. Her expertise in a variety of different treatment modalities has allowed her to shift her approach as my own therapeutic needs have changed over time. The world would be a better, more evolved, and caring place if everyone had a therapist like her.”

Getting to know Dr. Elissa Ganz

I am a clinical psychologist with 20+ years of experience. I work with adults, adolescents, pre-teens, couples, and families, providing both short-term and long-term psychotherapy. I have been trained in various modalities and have an eclectic approach. Together, we understand your current struggles and create lasting change, in part, by exploring early experiences.. This helps develop insight into long-standing patterns that may be repeating themselves and preventing change and satisfaction in relationships, success and productivity at work, recent or chronic anxiety and depression, or the impact of a traumatic event-whether recent or from early in life. Creating a safe and warm environment, along with a strong therapeutic relationship, are the most important factors that enable my clients to become vulnerable and make important discoveries which facilitate their journey toward the changes they desire and symptom relief and deep healing. I remain very engaged and empathic while gently and directly challenging my clients. I work with teenagers, college students, young adults and older adults navigating life transitions and relationship struggles, as well as new and expectant mothers and members of the LGBTQ+ community. I earned my PhD from Adelphi University and completed specialized training in Couples and Family Psychotherapy at New York University. Additionally, I hold a Certificate in Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy from the William Alanson White Institute. I also encorporate somatic work when there is a disconnection between one's mind and body. I look forwrad to assisting you on your healing journey.

I've been working with Dr. Ganz for almost three years, and she has been transformative. I came to her carrying decades of unresolved grief—losses from my first marriage, estrangement from my father, and other wounds I'd never fully processed. What I found was not just clinical competence but genuine empathic presence. She sits with you in your emotions, fully 'dialed in', every session. She's remarkably insightful—often connecting things I've shared months apart in ways that weren't obvious to me but made perfect sense. She's patient when patience serves, direct when directness is required, and shares my sense of humor about life's absurdities. When she recognized that I was ready for deeper work, she introduced ketamine-assisted psychotherapy at exactly the right moment. The KAP work has allowed me to access early childhood memories, experience spiritual openings, and process powerful emotions from a place of groundedness I hadn't reached previously. One example of her wisdom: after a painful rupture with my daughter at a family dinner, I was fixed on needing an apology. Elissa helped me see that my daughter needed an urgent reassurance of my love more than I needed the apology. She was right. It worked. More proof comes from how others experience me now. My wife recently remarked, "I feel you now love me specifically, not generally. I feel seen, heard, and valued." That's the kind of change that this work makes possible. I recommend Dr. Elissa Ganz without reservation.
Elissa is attentive, caring, and professional. She is very present at each appointment and comprehensive in her assessment and approach to treatment. During the sessions she is both insightful and caring — truly an ideal doctor for psychotherapy and beyond.
It's been only one visit so far but it's Bern productive for me. Dr. Elissa Ganz helped me to understand why I am in the current situation and helped me to realize the things I have been running from. Looking forward to tell next session.
