Getting to know Elizabeth McManus

Hi, my name is Elizabeth and I'm a Board Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner based in New York. I specialize in Anxiety, Depression, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Working with LGBTQIA+ populations and Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). I’ve been nursing for five years and completed my psychiatric training at The University of Rochester. I’m passionate about destigmatizing mental healthcare, and together with my colleagues at Lavender Psychiatry, I’m on a mission to create a world where feelings are felt, respected and cared for.

What should a new client know about working with you?

PLEASE NOTE, I’M IN-NETWORK WITH AETNA, BCBS, CIGNA, OSCAR, OXFORD, MEDICARE, UNITED. I DO NOT ACCEPT MEDICAID. My style is warm, engaging, and personable. I value forming a strong alliance with each client, and collaborating on all treatment decision-making. I work with people from diverse cultural backgrounds and many different walks of life, including students, parents, professionals, trades, service industry, retail, entrepreneurs, creatives and tech experts. Starting treatment can be a scary and intimidating process, I’ve successfully treated many people who are new to psychiatric care.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Booking Process: Book your appointment on Zocdoc. My office will email you a self-assessment to ensure I’m able to help you. We'll then reach out to confirm your appointment time. Your First Visit: The initial session is a comprehensive, one-hour evaluation which allows me to understand your current symptoms and difficulties, and learn about important aspects of your past psychiatric, medical, social, educational, and family histories. At the end of the session, we’ll determine the best treatment course. Session frequency ranges from weekly to monthly depending on the type of treatment you’re looking for. If you’re already seeing a therapist, I’m happy to collaborate with them while guiding the medication aspect of your treatment. However, many of my clients see me for both therapy and medication management. My practice, Lavender Psychiatry, is founded and fueled by board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioners who create therapeutic journeys that are kind, convenient and transparent so that people can flourish. We have a fantastic team that works together to ensure our clients are well taken care of. This includes our care concierge team who is available 7 days a week between your appointments, to help answer questions and assist with any issues regarding coverage and prescriptions etc. We also have covering providers in case I’m away and an urgent matter arises. I look forward to meeting you and helping you in your journey to a brighter future!

It’s common for mental health providers to be out-of-network. Many insurance plans offer out-of-network coverage, so you may get partially reimbursed. Learn more

Out-of-pocket fees and assistance
  • Files your insurance claim: You pay the session fee upfront and the provider files the claim for you, so you can get reimbursed directly without worrying about the paperwork
  • Charges post-reimbursement amount: This provider will only charge you for the amount you pay after you get reimbursed from your insurance plan, so you don’t need to pay the session fee upfront

More information on payments and coverage

If you use your insurance with us, we can reduce out-of-pocket expenses and still offer high-quality care. You may not have any cost related to your visit with us, depending upon your insurance plan. She wasn't very interested in solving my problem, or getting to the root of it. After a few sessions she just wanted to throw medication at me to see what would stick. After realizing that she did this, she then started acting like I had a drug problem and told me to see someone else. One of the worst doctors I've encountered. What she's doing is dangerous. Don't see her.
