Getting to know Elizabeth Onyejekwe

I am a Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with a Master's in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing from Walden University and a Bachelor's degree from Grand Canyon University. I provide medication management for psychiatric conditions such as depression, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, OCD, and others. I also treat mood disorders during pregnancy and the postnatal period. I work with people of various ages across the lifespan, using a personalized care approach to help my clients live the life they desire.

What should a new client know about working with you?

With more than two decades of experience in both inpatient and outpatient services, I interact with diverse cultures and groups and treat each individual with understanding and respect. My clients' stories and struggles matter to me. I listen with empathy and compassion. I believe in a holistic approach that encompasses the whole person while partnering with my clients to ensure appropriate treatment in a safe and inclusive space. I am passionate about mental health education and awareness, and I care about my clients' overall wellbeing.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I believe in a patient-centered approach. Everyone is unique and needs to be treated likewise. I utilize a Holistic approach to Mental Health treatment with empathy, compassion, and a deep understanding of the physiological and psychological causes of these conditions. My treatment style includes: Personalized care Screening/assessment tools Re-evaluation according to each client's need. individualized Medication management Minimal medication [only what is needed] Starts with the lowest dose for tolerability and adjusting as needed Supportive therapy, CBT, Behavior-modifying therapy
