Getting to know Elizabeth Rock
Elizabeth, “Liz”, is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who provides evidence-based psychiatric care for children, adolescents, and adults. She has nearly two decades of nursing experience spanning across psychiatric care, addiction treatment, nursing leadership, women’s health, and neonatal intensive care, which has greatly influenced her approach to mental health treatment.
Liz completed her Post-Master’s PMHNP Certificate at Walden University and holds a Master of Science in Nursing Administration with a Post-Master’s Nurse Educator Certificate from the University of Texas at Arlington, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Texas Woman’s University. Her clinical background includes outpatient psychiatry, trauma-focused psychotherapy, detox and withdrawal management, medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for substance use disorders, and comprehensive psychiatric evaluations. She has worked extensively with patients experiencing trauma, PTSD, anxiety disorders, mood disorders, ADHD, and substance use challenges.
Liz’s treatment philosophy integrates diagnostic evaluation, psychopharmacology, and supportive therapeutic interventions within a patient-centered, multimodal framework. She strives to create a therapeutic environment that promotes psychological safety, emotional regulation, resilience, and long-term recovery. Her approach prioritizes helping clients understand their symptoms, develop targeted coping strategies, and make consistent progress toward improved mental health.
In addition to her clinical practice, Liz has spent the past five years volunteering with the Texas Peer Assistance Program for Nurses (TPAPN), supporting healthcare professionals facing mental health or substance use challenges. Through this work, she offers education, compassionate guidance, and connection to resources, helping reduce the stigma surrounding mental health and addiction in the nursing community.

Please complete the attached payment authorization form. THIS IS A REQUIRED FORM FOR ALL CLIENTS REGARDLESS OF INSURANCE as our providers do not take payments of any kind. What is your typical process for working with clients?
Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
Initial psychiatric evaluation (usually 45–90 min) – comprehensive history, symptom review, risk assessment, and possible rating scales (PHQ-9, GAD-7, etc.).
Diagnosis and treatment planning – discuss diagnosis, medication options, risks/benefits, and any referrals (e.g., to therapy).
Medication initiation – prescribe and educate on start dose, expected timeline, and side effects to monitor.
Follow-up visits – typically 2–4 weeks initially to monitor response and titrate medication, then spacing out to monthly or quarterly once stable (15–30 min visits).
Ongoing management – periodic check-ins, refills, and coordination with therapist if the client is in concurrent therapy.
