About Ellen Matteson
Ellen Matteson is a board-certified physician assistant who earned her Bachelor of Science from Rutgers University and completed her Master’s in Physician Assistant Studies at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, School of Health Professions. She has been working in dermatology private practice since 2009. Prior to that, Ellen worked in various surgical settings, including plastics and New York Hospital’s burn unit.
She has extensive experience in treating a wide array of skin conditions, including acne, eczema, and skin cancer. She loves to educate her patients on general skin health, skin cancer prevention, and antiaging regimens, including products, cosmetic procedures, and lasers.
Ellen and her family recently relocated to the Charleston area to enjoy the beaches, restaurants, and mild winters. In her spare time, she loves to play tennis, take her dogs to the beach, and spend time with her family. Ellen is the mother of three young adults—a son and twin girls.

First, I was impressed and grateful for the courtesy and efficiency of the Davidson Dermatology office staff. I completed minimum paperwork, then was called back to meet with Ellen Matteson. She’s a warm, confident, and most capable medical provider who listened carefully as she reviewed my medical history and readily offered an alternative path to address my issues. Davidson Dermatology was top-notch. The office is extremely clean. The staff is friendly, welcoming, and kind. Ellen Matteson was very knowledgeable. She is a great listener.
