Getting to know Elliott O'melia

Hello, I'm Elliott, the owner of Northwoods Psychiatry. I'm so glad you're here. One of my greatest passions is helping people better understand themselves, especially those navigating ADHD. I also work with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, grief, life transitions, and other mental health challenges. I know reaching out for help isn't easy. Opening up to someone you've never met can feel overwhelming, and I never take that trust for granted. I truly believe we never forget the people who show up for us when we need them most. As a psychiatric provider, it's a privilege to be that person for someone else. My approach combines thoughtful medication management with supportive therapy because I believe the best care looks at the whole person, not just a diagnosis. I strive to care for every client the way I would want my own family or myself to be cared for, with compassion, honesty, respect, and even a little humor when it's needed. Today, I specialize in ADHD, anxiety, bipolar disorder, depression, and other mental health conditions, but my focus has always been on the person sitting in front of me, not the label. I believe care goes beyond treating symptoms. I take the time to learn about your story, your strengths, your passions, and what matters most to you so we can create a treatment plan that truly fits your life. Real healing happens when you feel heard, understood, and supported. Whether you're seeking answers, looking for the right treatment, or simply hoping to feel like yourself again, you don't have to navigate it alone. It would be an honor to walk alongside you and help you take the next step toward feeling your best.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I want you to know that you don't have to have everything figured out before our first appointment. My goal is to create a safe, judgment-free space where you can feel comfortable being yourself. I take the time to understand your story, not just your symptoms, so we can build a treatment plan that fits your goals and lifestyle. I combine medication management with supportive therapy, and I believe the best care is collaborative, compassionate, and personalized. Whether you're seeking help for ADHD, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, or another mental health concern, I'm here to support you every step of the way.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We begin with a comprehensive evaluation to understand your symptoms, personal history, strengths, and goals. Together, we'll discuss what you're experiencing and develop a treatment plan tailored to your needs, which may include medication management, supportive therapy, or both. Throughout our work together, we'll regularly check in on your progress, make adjustments as needed, and ensure you feel heard and involved in every decision. My goal is to build a trusting partnership where you feel supported as you move toward lasting wellness.

He answered all of my countless questions thoroughly and in a manner that made me satisfied.
