Dr. Emilia Ramirez is both from Texas and California, loves what she does, and has worked in social services for approximately 25 years. Dr. Ramirez completed her PsyD in Clinical Psychology in 2011 at Argosy University in Dallas, Texas, and earned her Master’s in Clinical Psychology in 2009 from the same institution. She graduated as a fourth-generation Longhorn from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. After graduate school, she moved back to Northern California and, at the end of 2019, relocated to San Diego, where she is delighted by the weather, people, and gorgeous coastal views. In her clinical practice, Emilia uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy alongside Narrative Therapy to meet people where they are. She believes in the power of these interventions to help people achieve landmark change but also values the power of the story—how what a person shares is just as meaningful as the clinical interpretation. She teaches people to re-write their narratives into more gentle, self-accepting ones so they can feel clear and good about who they are and how they show up in the world. For fun, she enjoys playing guitar, tennis, painting, and watching documentaries. She loves her cat, all animals really, and wants to make the world a safer, more beautiful place for all the clients she serves. She considers it a privilege to do what she does and will give her all to helping each person lead a healthier, more enjoyable, and manageable life.
