“I started seeing Emily during a period of transition in my life. I wasn't sure where I was going, but had issues of focusing on worst-case scenarios and outcomes. The work we did completely transformed my life. By using the tools that Emily guided me to use I was able shift my perspective and became more effective and impactful in every area of my life. I am forever grateful for having Emily as a guide through this transition. During the course of our therapy I was confronted with a traumatic event that happened to my child. Her empathy, skill, and professionalism allowed us to quickly pivot from the original reason I began seeing her to working through the pain. Seeing Emily during this time allowed me not only to heal, but be strong for those I care about. I'm now living the life I had hoped to live and working with Emily made this possible.”

Getting to know Dr. Emily Jenchura

***Please Read*** When life throws a curveball, I know it can be challenging to navigate the pain, fear, and uncertainty of moving forward. I'm a clinical psychologist with over a decade of experience. I'm dedicated to supporting individuals through grief and loss, trauma, and other life disruptions. I also help those struggling with anxiety, body-focused repetitive behaviors (e.g., hair-pulling, skin-picking), depression, compassion fatigue/burnout, and general life stress and improvement. I guide you through your challenges to help you heal, evolve, and create the life you want-a life better than you could have imagined. I take a person-centered and holistic approach, blending evidence-based practices like Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and biofeedback with Eastern approaches such as mindfulness, self-compassion, breathwork, and energy practices. I have a PhD and MA in Clinical Psychology from Arizona State University and completed a fellowship at the Veterans Affairs Healthcare System specializing in trauma, grief, CBT, mindfulness, and self-compassion. I also hold additional certifications in trauma-informed therapy, biofeedback, yoga, and breathwork. My approach is distinct with the incorporation of spirituality and soul-connection, guiding you toward reconnecting with your true self so you can live authentically. My goals are to help you gain CLARITY about yourself, your struggles, and your desires, and to teach you tools that help you make changes that CASCADE to many aspects of your life. Clients often describe me as warm, compassionate, safe, and accountable. I prioritize understanding your unique background and cultural identities, tailoring our work to fit your specific needs. I also emphasize home practice, empowering you to handle life's curveballs and design your the life you want.

What should a new client know about working with you?

**Please read the following before booking*** Please only book a session with me if you are committed to attending an initial intake appointment. Should we decide we are a good fit, the time slot you booked will be yours, so please be sure it's a time that works for you most weeks. For example, if you book Friday at 9am and we decide to work together, we will meet Fridays at 9am moving forward. I am in-network with Aetna only. If you have another insurance and are on a PPO plan, I can provide you with superbills you can submit to your insurance for partial reimbursement as an "out-of-network" provider. Please check with your insurance provider about mental health coverage and reimbursement rates before booking with me. My rate is $250/session. I also offer a limited number of sliding scale slots to those who can demonstrate financial need or hardship. While I value and allow space for you to talk and process your thoughts and feelings, I’m not a traditional "talk" therapist. Yes, talking and processing can feel good and validating in the moment. However, they are not effective approaches for making meaningful and long-lasting changes. My approach is active. I’ll teach you tools proven to work and guide you through exercises and practices in session. You will then apply what you’ve learned in session to your everyday life. You can expect to be actively engaged in the treatment both within and outside of sessions. My hope is that you’ll build a toolkit and become your own therapist, so you won’t need me anymore.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I understand how hard it can be to seek help. Thus, I strive to create a warm, compassionate, and non-judgmental environment so you feel safe sharing your story and doing the difficult work of healing and growing. In the initial session or two, I'll be asking you a lot of questions so I can understand the full context of your presenting concerns. I try to understand your unique values, history, experiences, and identities. We will then work together to develop a treatment approach grounded in evidence-based approaches and soul-connection practices, and tailored to meet your needs and goals. In subsequent sessions, I typically begin with a “check-in” about the week. During this time, you can share and process triggering events, and your thoughts and feelings. This is also your opportunity to request a specific topic or tool to be addressed in the session. We will then review home practice, engage in feedback and problem-solving, and learn a new topic or tool. I will also periodically assess progress towards your treatment goals. Though the work will be uncomfortable and difficult at times, I will be there to gently challenge you, support you, and cheer you on!

Emily made me feel very comfortable in our sessions. She has a great communication style and I always felt heard and understood.
Emily provides an open space to share my struggles and what I want to improve by asking clear concise and well directed, open ended questions in order to get to know me. We were able to cover so much ground in our first session thanks to her active listening skills and her ability to probe deeper for the moments that needed it . She does not insert her opinions, preconceived notions or judgements, is calm and engaged, smart, relatable and highly trained. I am so grateful to have found her,

Emily was super helpful. She made me feel comfortable, was knowledgeable, and was a great listener. I worked with her over a year and found immense personal growth with many of the techniques and conversations we had. Would highly recommend
Dr. Emily helped me learn how to listen to my gut and center myself in times of anxiety and worry. She armed me with the tools needed to take on life's challenges and remain present when my mind would want to ruminate. She has such a kind, understanding, and warm presence. 10/10 recommend!
Therapy with Emily was a transformative experience. Her approach was personalized, combining traditional methods with innovative techniques tailored to my needs. Emily created a safe and welcoming environment, making it easy to tackle challenging topics. She provided practical tools for managing depression and anxiety, fostering significant personal growth. I highly recommend Emily for their her deep expertise and genuine commitment to client wellbeing.
I would like to share my positive experience regarding the sessions I had with Dr. Jenchura. Initially, I was nervous and hesitant to attend, but upon arrival, Dr. Jenchura greeted me with a warm and welcoming smile that immediately put me at ease. Throughout each session, I felt comfortable and safe to open up, despite being a first-time therapy attendee. Dr. Jenchura's approach broke down any negative thoughts I had about therapy being strict and uncomfortable, and instead, created a supportive and welcoming environment that even led to a few laughs. I highly recommend Dr. Jenchura's services to anyone seeking professional and compassionate mental health assistance.
I found Emily Jenchura when I needed help with sleeplessness and overwhelming anxiety. After the first or second visit with her my course of therapy changed, as I was the victim of a home invasion robbery. Emily helped me reclaim my life. I felt like I was circling above my body and watching the world happen without me. The shock of the event coupled with being in an already sub-prime moment in life had me unable to function in every possible way. Here I am, about a year later sleeping through the night, attentive to my most precious friendships, and actually looking for more work. I am grateful to Emily Jenchura. I learned to meditate other than exercise, gained patience for myself (translates to patience with others), and every so often hearing her confirm that the actions around me were indeed "totally messed up" felt grounding. Not having to explain repeatedly the crazy stuff around me was some of the healing I needed. She is skilled and delightful. I'm a very lucky person.
It was so great to have the opportunity to work with Dr. Jenchura! From the start, she made sure to understand my goals and what was important to me. She made the most of every session with structure to check in on my weekly goals and home practice, but also had the flexibility to pivot based on things going on in my life. She gave very actionable homework that truly changed my frame of mind. She is such a compassionate and caring person, and I felt so comfortable working through difficult conversations with her. I can't recommend her enough!
I feel incredibly lucky to have met Dr. Jenchura. Her calm and gentle demeanor, her expertise on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and her can-do attitude was instrumental in my journey to face my own fears and to start the process of healing. Over the past 1.5 years since I've met Dr. Jenchura, I've been consistently impressed by how positive and dependable she is. I also loved how she combines mindfulness, self-compassion and calming techniques in her treatment plans. I highly recommend Dr. Jenchura - she really changed my life for the better.
I worked with Dr Jenchura at a very tender and difficult time of my life after losing my husband of 38 years. We talked, shared and did excellent exercises related to processing and handling grief. Dr Jenchura was sensitive, insightful and had a real grasp of what I was going through. She assisted me immensely by helping me understand what I was going through and suggesting ways to cope with this grief. I cannot imagine how I could have made it through dealing with this loss without her.
I highly recommend Dr Emily Jenchura. She is very kind, nonjudgmental and intelligent. Unlike my previous experiences, she truly wants to teach you to not need a therapist and equip you with a toolbox of things you can do to help yourself. Can’t recommend her enough!
Emily is warm and open, and I immediately felt comfortable in her presence. She's easy to open up to, and provides your with the tools needed to help your particular situation. More importantly she holds you accountable to your goals. My time with her brings me such peace of mind.
