What should a new client know about working with you?

I take a nonjudgmental, collaborative, and assessment driven approach when working with families and I only use evidence-based methods for therapy and evaluations. An assessment driven approach means that I assess the child and families strengths and challenges to ensure I understand fully what the family is facing in order to develop a tailored therapy plan that will help the family be successful. I do not take a one-size fits all approach. In addition to being a clinical psychologist, I was also a researcher professor and conducted research on therapies for child behavior concerns including ADHD, oppositional/defiance, and aggression/anger. Given this background, I know what the research says about what therapies and strategies help most families with these challenges. I use positive parenting strategies to improve child behavior which entails improving the parent-child relationship, but also teaches appropriate limit setting and consequences which helps the child learn appropriate behaviors. I can't wait to meet you!

What is your typical process for working with clients?

For therapy clients, I meet with the parent(s) for 80 minutes during the first session. During this session, we will discuss the parents concerns, what they've tried before, what has worked well and what has not worked, among other topics. This meeting allows me to develop a tailored treatment plan which I will describe to the family at the end of the session or shortly after. Depending on the family's concerns, treatment may be just a few appointments or more extensive. Please note that Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) commonly lasts between 12-16 weeks, with some exceptions. Ongoing therapy appointments last between 45-50 minutes. *All therapy is conducted via video call at this time* For child diagnostic assessments, evaluations, and testing, the first appointment will be via video call and lasts 80 minutes. Depending on the reasons for seeking an assessment, a second follow up, in-person appointment will be scheduled to complete child testing. This appointment lasts between 1-4 hours depending on the case. After the psychologist has collected all of the data, scored the tests, interpreted the results, and written the comprehensive report, a third appointment will be scheduled to provide the results to the parents (45-50 minute video meeting). Pricing for evaluations and testing ranges significantly depending on the reason for needing an evaluation. Please contact for pricing.
