What should a new client know about working with you?

When you begin therapy with me, you can expect a space that is affirming, thoughtful, and collaborative. I practice from a neurodiversity-affirming and identity-affirming lens, which means I view differences in brain wiring, culture, gender, sexuality, and lived experience as strengths — not problems to be fixed. I bring over a decade of experience supporting children, teens, adults, couples, and families navigating autism, ADHD, trauma, anxiety, relationship challenges, and identity development. My style is warm, direct, and grounded. I balance compassion with clinical clarity, helping you feel understood while also moving toward meaningful, practical change. Our first few sessions focus on understanding your story, your goals, and what has (and hasn’t) worked before. From there, we create a tailored plan that fits your needs. Depending on your goals, I may integrate EMDR, attachment-based work, family systems approaches, or skills-based strategies. If you are a parent, I work collaboratively with you while centering your child’s dignity and autonomy. If you are a couple, we focus on communication patterns, attachment dynamics, and rebuilding connection. If you are an individual, we’ll work to increase self-understanding, reduce distress, and build sustainable coping tools. As the founder of a growing group practice, I am deeply committed to ethical, high-quality care and making sure every client feels respected and supported. Therapy with me is a partnership — one where your identity, strengths, and voice are central to the process.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Here’s a polished response you can use on Zocdoc (well within character limits): What is your typical process for working with clients? My process is collaborative, structured, and individualized. In our first 1–2 sessions, I focus on getting to know you — your story, your strengths, your current challenges, and what you hope will feel different through therapy. I take time to understand your identity, neurotype, family system, and lived experiences so our work feels aligned and affirming from the start. From there, we clarify goals and create a treatment plan tailored to your needs. I practice from a neurodiversity-affirming and identity-affirming lens, meaning we work with your wiring and values — not against them. Therapy is not about “fixing” who you are; it’s about reducing distress, building insight, and increasing agency. Depending on your goals, I may integrate EMDR for trauma processing, attachment-based work for relationship patterns, family systems strategies, or skills-based tools for anxiety, emotional regulation, and communication. I balance reflection with practical tools so sessions feel meaningful and applicable to daily life. For children and teens, I involve caregivers in a collaborative way while protecting the child’s autonomy and dignity. For couples, we focus on communication cycles, attachment dynamics, and rebuilding emotional safety. Throughout the process, I check in regularly about progress and adjust our approach as needed. Therapy with me is an active partnership — thoughtful, respectful, and goal-oriented — designed to create sustainable change, not just short-term relief.
