Emily Scott, LMFT

Emily Scott, LMFT

Marriage and Family Therapist
4620 Hollywood Blvd, Los Angeles, CA
I work with anxiety disorders, PTSD, complex family dynamics, couples, and infidelity. As an anxiety therapist in Los Angeles, I use Brainspotting, DBT, and somatic work to help clients process intense emotions. As a couples therapist, I use the Gottman Method to help couples resolve conflict, build communication skills, and restore trust and intimacy. I operate from an intersectional and systemic framework. None of us exist in a vacuum – the families we come from, the relationships we’re in, the cultures and communities we’re part of, and the systems we have to navigate all shape how we experience ourselves and the world around us. I take a holistic approach. By this, I mean I will always be offering you resources and referrals to other providers to learn more. I have an in-depth network of providers across Los Angeles that I utilize to help my clients receive support, whether that’s through medical specialists, psychiatry, acupuncture, physical therapy, or more. I believe that the whole body-mind system needs to be considered when treating mental health.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Whatever brought you here, I want therapy to feel like a place where you can feel comfortable and safe to tell me whatever is coming up for you. Therapy with me is conversational and human. I’m direct, down-to-earth, and non-judgmental. I’ll challenge you when appropriate, laugh with you when you need it, and I’ll always lead with curiosity. I pay attention to and genuinely care about the details that make you who you are. I’ll remember your dog’s name, the story you told me three months ago, and how far you’ve come over the last year. I believe you are the expert of your own experience.
