About Dr. Emily Shiau
Emily is a Certified Nurse Midwife who is committed to providing care that is respectful, collaborative, and rooted in trust. She is passionate about creating a welcoming space where patients feel safe, supported, and actively involved in their healthcare decisions. Emily believes that when people feel heard and are informed, they’re empowered to make choices that reflect their needs and values.
With a strong commitment to evidence-based practice, Emily combines clinical knowledge with a deep respect for each person’s unique story. She loves to provide patient education and open dialogue, helping patients understand their options and feel confident throughout their care journey. Emily is also bilingual in English and Mandarin Chinese. From adolescence through menopause, Emily is honored to support women across the lifespan with compassion, curiosity, and a belief in the power of patient-centered care.
Emily completed her Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree from the University of Michigan School of Nursing. Her DNP project focused on providing and educating others about trauma informed care.
When Emily is not working with patients, she loves to watch documentaries while crafting, try new restaurants, curl up with a good book, and travel the world with her husband.

This is a pretty busy clinic! The staff is kind and the office is clean. Dr. Emily was very friendly and did her best to answer all my questions. The office is on top of reminding their patients to arrive 15 minutes early. I got there 15 minutes early and had to wait around 45 mins to be seen. My appointment lasted maybe 35 mins. I thought it was interesting that the doctor asked me to take my own vaginal swab sample. But perhaps it’s because she was running behind on other appointments. It did sort of feel like she was in a rush. But nonetheless she was friendly and present during our appointment.

When I entered the clinic I felt very uncomfortable with some of the literature out in the open. I understand that reproductive healthcare includes termination but having it so out in the open like that was very uncomfortable
