Getting to know Emmanuel Adjin

Emmanuel K. Adjin is a board-certified and licensed psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner in New Jersey, New York, and Vermont. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the State University of New York at Geneseo, his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the State University of New York at Binghamton, and his Master of Science in Nursing with a focus in Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing from New York University. Emmanuel has taught as a clinical instructor at Rory Meyers College of Nursing at New York University. He has also served as a clinician and provider at New York University Langone Medical Center and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. With over 11 years of experience in psychiatry, he enjoys getting to know his clients and looks forward to working with you to overcome any challenges you may be facing.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I place great emphasis on getting to know my clients, their stories (both struggles and triumphs), and ultimately the places they currently find themselves. I believe the past is never buried in the past; the past lives on in the here-and-now. Therefore, one’s past and present must merge in order for meaningful, long-lasting healing to occur.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

During the initial one hour evaluation, we (provider and client) partner up to identify chief presenting issue(s). Medication (if needed) is then prescribed after the initial evaluation. Weekly or biweekly thirty minute follow up sessions are then conducted with the client to make sure the expected response from the prescribed medication is occurring. Once a client is stable on a medication, the client transitions to monthly, bimonthly or quarterly follow up sessions. If a client's medication is adjusted following a stable period, the client transitions back to weekly or biweekly follow up sessions until a stable mood is achieved.

Mr. Adjin is so caring and approachable. He goes above and beyond to help his patients. I cannot thank him enough. I also recommended Mr. Adjin to one of my coworkers and she is so happy with him. Thank you Mr. Adjin
I highly recommend Emmanuel. He listens to everything you have to say and asks questions to make certain to get the correct diagnosis. He is always on time making it easy to schedule during a lunch break. For 16 years, I’ve seen different psychiatrists and never received the correct treatment. I am grateful to finally have found someone who takes the time to really make an accurate assessment and prescribe the correct treatment.
I was in a pretty bad place where I wasn’t getting any assistance from my doctors as quickly as I needed. It was an emergency situation that needed medical intervention. Dr Adjin was able to get me in quick and prescribe me what I needed. And worked with me for months after to step down my medication to a better option. All the way till I no longer needed the medication. I feel better in general knowing I can reach out at anytime in the future if I need help and be fit in within a few days, sometimes the same day.
Emmanuel is an exceptional provider, who cares deeply about his patients’ well-being. He is kind, solution-oriented and compassionate. I think he has helped a lot in improving my condition. I would recommend him to anyone without any reservation!
I started seeing Dr. Adjin a few years ago, and I highly recommend him. He is calm and patient, really listens to my concerns and requests, and answers questions quickly. His demeanor is very comforting and he is very knowledgeable. He doesn’t put you down, but instead validates feelings and helps try to understand what’s going on and how to best help with mental health.
I cannot recommend Emmanuel enough. From his positive and caring demeanor, to his thoughtfulness and honesty. Working with him was a first class experience. Do not hesitate to work with him!!
Emmanuel is as knowledgeable as he is personable and thoughtful. He is the first HCP to deeply understand and remember all of the factors impacting my mental health. I leave each appointment feeling seen & heard. I can’t say enough good things. I truly think I’d be lost without his expertise, patience, & investigative skills.
